Seeing as we never did get a sequel to Over the Hedge, it makes me wonder why they didn't just title this game Over the Hedge II. As a kid, I was surprised and baffled that this game started at the end of the first film, then did something totally different. But now years later, I guess we did get a sequel, except in the form of a video game. With that said, a lot of the material in this game, I think, has potential for a sequel. Rufus the bluejay, Vincent siding with our heroes, actually seeing VermTech, rescuing Heather, more locations to visit and even how the game ends fits fairly for a follow up to the first film. Even with different voice actors for all the characters, it's still clearly RJ, Hammy, Verne, Stella, Ozzie, Heather, Penny and Lou. All the voices they got to replace them are amazing. They all sound just like the original actors. As such, when you view this game as a sequel to Over the Hedge, I say it's a fun little ride to play.

One of my favorite things about this game outside of nostalgia, is the replayability with the dialogue. You get different dialogue depending on which two characters you bring and whether they’re in spot 1 or spot 2. Of course this doesn’t apply to the FMV cutscenes, but you get the idea.
