I thoroughly enjoy the game. Not really because of the gameplay, but just because the interactions between the characters is so great! Honestly, these characters have more interesting personalities and interactions than most of the movies that have come out. Thanks for posting this video!

My theory ... Viper is probably the closest translation of Torque's species actual name to human lenguaje, they probably have a name for their own species in their native lenguaje but the translation of that name into english or any other human lenguaje is not perfect, Viper is the human word that vocally resembles the translation more

so if alien hunters is cannon... how do the vipers reporduce now that A) the elders arent mass producing soldiers and B) no male Viper King...
@Foxxtronix3 жыл бұрын
There's no canon answer for this that I know of. However, there's a lot of fan-theories. Some would say "they don't", and are one generation away from extinction if nothing is done. Some say parthenogenesis, IE development of unfertilized eggs into what are effectively clones. There are those who talk about Dr. Vahlen's lab notes, about how she gave the "subject gamma" zygote a sex change to make the Viper King. There is also some talk about cloning the Viper King from what's left of his remains, sometimes including the armor they made from his corpse. The genetic manipulation technology that The Elders/ADVENT had is still out there, either unclaimed or in XCOM tech vaults, and could be used to make baby vipers, possibly male ones. TLDR: Your guess is as good as mine.

This game's dialogue ranges from pretty okay to cringe inducing. The squad almost feels like they're too nice with each other at times, like artificially so. And even when they have those cold shoulder characters that are supposed to be mean, even that dialogue comes across as reserved. I'm really hoping this game was just an experiment for future systems and toying with the idea of having aliens in our squads. Having a sectoid and viper squadmate is pretty neat, but I really hope they make them more... Alien in the future. I'm not a fan of their voice acting being so human. I question why they didn't give the VAs any direction because I feel like it could have been pretty good had they. Torque especially should have had, as cliche as it is, some kind of hiss to her voice or an accent that would reflect her appearance. She just sounds so vanilla like everyone in this game.

@Samuel Selig I know he didn't say the game is bad. He's talking about VA's of the game and I agree that ayy's having human voice's is weird but it was the idea of the devs to put it that way, as long as devs have different views & ideas of making games then the fans will obviously notice it
@RexMK-3 жыл бұрын
I guess the devs wanted to give the Alien human characteristics for us, the players to empatize with out alien squad mates, is part of the human psyque to relate more easily to ... Well other humans, so I guess the reasoning behind it was to at least gave them a more human speach. I would also have like to see them having more Alien speach patterns or accent of some unvoluntary sounds they make when they speak like a "Hiss" for Torque but I don't see that as a deal breaker at least to me. The game is not a materpiece and is basically and experiment, but I am okay with the game. With Torque for instace, altought she is a Viper, it has been stated that she was "Born" on earth in what is know as New Artic, so it kinda (At least to me) Make sense she speaks so humanly when is most likely she has been surrounded by humans most of her life

@@RexMK- totally agree! Maybe after chimera squad a small dlc for XCOM CS than Firaxis other titles they want to release or work on than they work on XCOM 3. I also agree on the torque voice sounding human but they totally need "alienish" accent/voice for Axiom and those 2 former advent dude's, like the Skirmishers they sound like what human alien hybrid would but in CS...... Also Verge's voice is kinda good actually.
@RexMK-3 жыл бұрын
@@flimsyclay2336 @ASIAN ARTS Well Verge is basically Alien Gold, he is one of my favorite characters ever, I really love how they made him sound ... Like monotonous but at the same time having him convey so much emotion om his lines. I mean, he sepeaks in a way that ... Is like ... Robotic or better put, his voice tone is always like, on the same volume, but at the same time his voice and his dialoge lines convey emotion and (At least to me) Make him feel alive, real. He speaks like one of those Alien arquetypes that like to read much and always feel logic but at the same time he conveys emotion on those line and I love that. But Yeah, Cherup and Zephyr (The Advent Dudes) Do need a voice filter because you are right, in XCOM 2 WotC the Xeno Humans (As I like to call the species of the ADVENT Hybrids) had this, like echo sound effect when they talk ... But five years leter is gone ... What? ... How? I can understand that (For Cherup at least) They no longer have that speach pattern (I mention Cherup because, it is stated that ADVENT Fall before his psionic indoctrination began so when XCOM found him he was basically a blank sheet so no only he never had simpathy for ADVENT but he never develop that speach pattern because since he is aware of himself, he more contact with humans that with aliens) But at least they should have that voice filter whenever they talk And Axiom ... Well boy mutons to me are and inconsistence because ... Just look how they cange desings between XCOM EU and XCOM 2 WotC ... I mean they don't look nothing alike, and the only lore explanation is that ... They always looked like they do in XCOM 2 ... I gues the voice to me was just a really smal detail compared to everthing else (Just look how they change their neck) But yeah he should have a diferent voice, maybe someghing more deep and with more reverb

You could also melee them in Enemy Within... just the normal ones weren't worth the effort, Beserkers on the other hand, well they weren't to tough in Unknown/Within and 2 fixed them for the most part aside from them now being very easy to hit (from my experience) comparatively, but in Within you could also melee Sectopods and Mectoids for some other kill animations (I bloody miss Mectoids they were a fun and tough early-mid game enemy), just it took a bit of work to unlock the Mec Trooper (the only trooper with a melee attack) and only in Enemy Within as Mec Troopers (along with Mectoids and a few other things), were only in that.

Care to explain what is so "woke" about this game? Does a multinational military organisation having characters of multiple nationalities surprise you somehow? I find the "get woke go broke" claim rather ironic, since the game is actually performing pretty well given the its low budget and small scope. Chimera Squad sold about as much copies as Enemy Unknown did on release.
@cdgonepotatoes42194 жыл бұрын
Yeah, lack of many (or any) white male agents doesn't and shouldn't scream "virtue signalling". Being able to integrate such exotic aliens into human society with seemingly little to no struggle is a tenuos narrative at best, but there really has been no real pushing narratives in the game towards inclusion with any of the speeches, missions or ideals of the criminal factions except for maybe the sacred coil, even the big baddy was much more concerned about the return of the elders rather than representing just a straight-up cartoon villain that hates inclusivity or whatever. The Grey Phoenix got close but I personally saw the protests at the star port portrayed as a grey area (heh), as of course there's reason to be afraid for mutons to turn their protest violent for their anger management and the faction itself did use unexcusable means to try and reach their otherwise harmless goals (as said in the recap once you defeat all 3 factions). With Earth being stirred like a patch of dirt during the invasion and City 31 being in an undisclosed location that I know of, you can't really call out on them underrepresenting whites in the agent design because who knows how many times populations have been relocated in patches left and right to shelters all around the world. I understand that you may be skeptical with all the recent bad narratives entitled writers and game companies tried to push for profit, but if you can't come to a different conclusion on why things in this game are like that even after giving multiple looks and mulling it over, maybe you are racist and even more than the Avenue Q "Everyone's a little bit racist" type. ... Oh and sales were good and nobody on the team embarassed themselves on Twitter, so reallg no "woke" and no "broke" happened.
