Couple of issues: The service manual for the XDiavel specifies using a bead of sealant (3M 1215) on the inside of the oil change drain bolt & washer. Also the oil screen should be removed and cleaned every two oil changes. This is done by removing the plate with four bolts near the oil drain bolt. The filter screen can then be removed and cleaned and then the plate will need to be sealed with the same 3M1215 as the oil change drain bolt. Lastly, the valve adjustment is every 18K miles not 30K miles as described in the video.

I wish. That's 30K km, i.e. about 18,500 miles. I just got it done as part of the full DESMO service and now I'm $1500 poorer.

I'm in Northern CA. I think it was about 7 hours of labor and included changing the timing belts and fork oil in addition to checking the valve clearance.

in Poland, the first service at 1000km (600 miles) cost me 250 US$ for oil and oil filter change only. The 15000km service I am expecting to be around double of this cost.

How did you reset the Annual Notification without going back on the date? My dealer wanted $700 for the annual+reset.... absolutely would not want to reset it.

Actually bought a map tuner for my motorcycles that also works for my side by side and truck! It has that function to reset service lights and read error codes as well as remap the cpu but is quite expensive

Hi. Good and very informative video. Just had my XD 7000km service at the dealer. They change the engine oil using Ducati recommended engine oil which is Shell, Ducati oil filter, clean the existing air filter and do the self-diagnosis data global scan for any fault codes on the systems. I waited for 3 hours for them to get the job done and the charges is USD 120.00 including labour. So my next service will be 15,000 km or in 6 month time which ever come first.

great video.I have a question; do you have to put oil in the oil filter? and do you need replace any washer from the nut that you unscrew?

Blaze Vasquez i did not put oil in the oil filter i put some around the rubber ring so it doesn’t pinch it and cause leaks! And i did not change or replace the washer and i have no leaks but you can if you feel more comfortable or have leaks

I always change the washer every time. That's what the manual specifies and it's like 90 cents from a Ducati dealer.

The only way is to go to the dealer but they will most likely charge you a fee for it, the option I used I change the date to a year back

As a warning to Duc owners, I used only ONE pitbull stand at the rear and not all the oil escaped. Now it's overfilled by at least .5L LOL. Live and learn right??? Will try and release some of the extra oil through the bolt... Update: .65 L of extra oil was recouped from the bike just because of the wrong position during oil change :D

mate, mine only use around 3.3L oil after changing oil & changing filter oil. is it normal? bcz panigale using 3.8L after changing oil & filter. i cant find oil capacity for xdiavel in manual book.. thanks before

My first 1000km service cost $220, I think it's not so high price, if you do it once in year, or once in 15k km. But problem, that dealer said- "It's take some time, you can walking around, watch the city." And I'm walking around 7 hours! So, I need to ride 230km to dealer, wait 7 hours for oil and filter change.=) Next time I'll do it myself, thanks for video, Paul. One more thing about oil, ducati reccomend Shell, my dealer used Motul EC 7100 4T 15w50, Paul used Motul 300v, which oil is better for XDiavel?

Yea the total capacity is 4,2 but that is total capacity when you do the oil change there is always oil that stays left in the gears or in the filter, put the oil until it’s filled have it run the engine for 5 min

Whole fucking shit! I never thought of changing the date! I do this all the time for video games ; ) thanks Paul! But, oil should be hot before removing so you get all of the oil out. And get a magnetic tray or at least a cup for those screws left all over the floor!
