I started making (learning) making music immediately on Ableton. It took me so much time to get a small grip on this DAW. I feel Ableton is a bit overdone for a beginner. On top ( i can not compare with other DAW though) but i find the instrument sounds in Ableton disappointing. I am tempted to advice FL which looks very user friendly for a beginner.

You are correct man Fl Studio is the best software for beginners who wants to make beats and for recording most DAW have a similar workflow, Cubase, Ableton, Pro Tools, Logic Pro, etc. I used to create beat in Fl Studio and then record in Cubase, now I just create Beats or record in Ableton or just create beat in Ableton and mix , record in Luna or make beats in Luna at this point it doesn't matter which DAW I use.

I hate having the best DAW conversation that’s like iPhone vrs Android!!! It’s very vague and can get bias depending on the person’s first DAW But as far as the vocal comping that came from ProTools!!! But everything else you’re spot on!!!

I use Ableton as my main because of it's quick workflow but I'd recommend fl just for the price and free updates for beginners but if money is not an issue then Ableton definitely . Am on windows so i have never used logic. I also use cubase which is a much mature DAW in terms of feature set but steep learning curve tbh and bitwig which is similar to Ableton on the side for sound design only. Simply put the 3 you've mentioned are great in their own respect and are the most popular with tones of educational resources on youtube to learn as a beginner and then from there one can switch or add other DAW'S to their arsenal that compliments their work flow.

Okay so hear is my opinion for anyone who reads this. I started with Logic and mastered it fairly fast. It’s amazing for mixing and mastering with its stock plugins (which is why I got it) as well as recording vocals and audio input. For beatmaking it’s lacking ghost notes, visible scale in piano roll, panning, and more. FL of course has all of that including MIDI snap which snaps all incoming midi from the keyboard or midi controller to the grid even if you hit a wrong note. Game changing for beat making. Beat making in FL is fun and Logic it’s kind of boring and uninspiring. I used Ableton for a month and no. Sampling and anything dealing with loops is just ass. There’s too much you can do with Ableton and the piano roll is not set up for fast clicking in. Ableton is great for electronic with all its stock plugins and features, but it’s also not that intuitive with or user friendly with its shortcuts. Best overall is Logic. Best beat making DAW is FL. Period. Also… in Logic you can snap to grid using the brush tool and if you want to manipulate samples by transients, then go to top left where it says quantize, then the transients will snap to whatever you select. Logic is easy and intuitive but again for beatmaking and beatmaking only FL is the best. If you sending loops, flipping samples, and making beats to sell, FL. If you trying to have the full produce experience and also can play an instrument, Logic. I’m done now.

I disagree with your choice. Being able to lay a simple beat from the sequencer in FL right away doesn't mean that its easy for beginners overall. The amount of windows opening and different paths you need to take to get to your goal in FL is certainly not user friendly in my opinion. In Ableton almost everything is in your face, no windows to manage etc

I agree. I love FL Studio. But Ableton Live is more flexible and more powerful. Even if the piano roll from FL is better, in total you will see that in arrangement, and vocal recording and in overall Ableton is ahead. But for beginner FL is for sure a very good start.

It’s not that hard. I learned FL in two days. Logic is very intuitive and very simple with its linear timeline. I used Logic for six months and Ableton for a month. If you can get past learning the way FL uses patterns then my opinion is that it’s the best for sampling work and overall beat making only.
