pioneer when it comes to cdj and digital all in one consoles is the best. I still use the cdj 1000mk3 I bought 15 years ago and they still work perfectly today. I also have the 2003 cdj 1000mk2 but they only read cds and I decided to keep them as a souvenir, they are also perfectly functional and to tell the truth their audio is superior to the recent cdj

I sold my DDJ1000 which I loved but wanted stand alone. I have not regretted my decision. Absolutely love the RX3. Wifi/Streaming not important to me but that is really the main question you have to ask yourself. Anyone saying denon better or pioneer better is a waste of time. Both great but each fits a DJ need and only you as the DJ can make that call. The gear bashing is just annoying, Some other things to point out on RX3 vs Rx2 - you have the full color and beat FX suite from 900XS (flagship mixer) now, larger screen, additional functions for the touch pads at the bottom, joig wheekl adjusts on the unit, faster processor, ability to access playlists immediately and many more small upgrades. This unit is not a swapped screen RX2

About to sale my ddj1000 for a rx3 I know it doesn’t have streaming but I want that all in one. I’ve been waiting just in case they drop something new that has streaming but I have a numark mixstream pro go for that. Thanks for your comment really got me leaning to purchase one asap

I switched from Pioneer to Denon, the screen is much better. I even felt that the faders en eq’s where tighter. Pioneer mist out on the screen.

Coming from vinyl into the digital world i am grateful for your videos ellaskins , you speak truth about the product. I have watched your comparison videos and for my first step into controllers i was going for the RX2 , But after watching this I'm thinking the RX3 which is slightly closer to the next step up in the XZ Thankyou and respect , Following your for many years now and i have learned a lot even though i am quite skilled with vinyl mixing and being a drummer for over 30 years.

Good morning Jonathan and thanks for another great video. So I’ve had the RX, RX2, XZ and now the RX3 ( Oh that Screen) I have loved them all but settled back on the smaller form factor of the RX3 as the XZ was a monster but overkill in size for what I needed.. The RX3 has a faster processor and although I don’t use the waveforms to mix, they are smoother. It has more colour effects (like the XZ) and I use them a lot too .. Doo like a bit of Spiral too on the beat effects.. Both available on the XZ. The Jogs on the RX3 are fantastic and a brilliant evolution from the RX2. I do plug in a laptop to the side for searchable export mode even though the big screen on the RX is good I can type faster, plus I love some of the Rekordbox’s features like BPM and Key match etc.. Best of all worlds again in a small Nexus form factor, and oh that screen :). Just waiting on my Decksaver now.. Love the RX3 and bearing in mind I also have a DDJ800 and a Denon Prime Go the jogs are perfect in size for it’ form factor.. Much Love Marky P..

@@TheMirko1969 loving the feel of the RX3. The build quality is great. Yes it’s a smaller form factor with smaller jogs but it’s screen is amazing and the sound card seems to of improved. I enjoy using it.

One extra thing to note about the vinyl speed adjust is that it has a section on the screen where you can speed it up or slow it down. Sadly only in 4 increments and with buttons rather than a knob

Lack of streaming services on the player is frustrating and the fact that you have to use rekordbox to analyse your files. That’s what makes the prime series stand out to me. That being said I like how you can use the colour effects and beat effects when using turntables as you can only the mixers filter on the prime series. Denon have also got a promo on the prime 2 at the minute and it’s selling for £999 which makes that very compelling if your in the market for this type of all in one device. Pioneer or Denon, take your pic based on what matters to you and then enjoy!

@@petersmith2522 I have a Prime 4 because I wanted the streaming capability and 4 decks (I have 2 turntables plugged in as well) but I can appreciate that the RX3 is a great piece of kit. Buy the Prime 2 if it has the features you want, you won’t be disappointed and the Prime series jog wheels are totally fine to use.

@@petersmith2522 I’ve had the prime 2 for 2 week’s now and the jog wheel’s are the only let down for me anyway, they’re very heavy and the platter it’s self is extremely slippery no grip at all fingers sliding all over the place.

I have the 1st model, the Pioneer XDJ RX & still use it to this day, served me well & does everything I need it to. I also have a Pioneer XDJ R1 for when i want to play cds, again does the job i need it to, remember guys, when listening to a dj mix nobody has a clue what hardware your playing on, the hardware doesn't make anyone a better dj.

Love mine been djing 20 years always valued your reviews the idea with the usbs just ordered them now brilliant idea. It takes a few weeks to get used to but the more and more I use it the more I love it. Got a few mates that have the denon I hear that not as solid. Granted they look very impressive. But I'll allwaw be with pioneer

I own the ddj 1000 and I do use it with a laptop but I leave it to the left hand side and I focus on what’s in front of me, I do understand that having such controller like the rx3 is great with not needing a laptop but those players are crazy expensive and pioneer atm only having players that can only play 2 channels off usb including the xdj Xz , I would love to see a player from pioneer which can use 4 decks standalone and streaming options but ofc tha would be absolutely mad money to buy so it’s a hard question to ask, I love using more than 2 decks , I have turntables and drum machines so I need more channel’s but tbh I would love to have an rx3 If I compared it to nothing but if I compared it to the ddj 1000 it’s not an easy choice , I don’t have a problem using a laptop but ik not needing it is convenient

Awesome videos man! I’ve been watching you for years and you always give the best reviews on equipment! I agree with you on laptop use with these units, they should should slowly starting fading out. I’ve had the rx 1 & 2 - picking up my rx 3 on Monday ! Super excited to use it and see that screen! Also, I looked up reviews on sound comparison to the rx-2. some people were saying that the RX3’s audio was muddy in the mids and over enhanced lows and highs. Will you let us know if that’s true?

The reason you need a laptop is to buy music and drop it into the mix on the fly if your a multi format dj playing 6 or more hour sets or if you want to dj with a streaming service like beatsource or beatport link as the rx3 doesn’t have Wi-Fi or standalone streaming of those services. Most working djs like my self will always take a mac book pro to gigs for this reason. I have bought the 3 my self and gigged it out for a 6 hour set this weekend it’s very good 👍 also the reason you still buy pioneer over prime is all decent clubs/bars with equipment still use pioneer so your always using rekordbox . I’m an Allen & heath man my self but pioneer have the monopoly when it comes to venues so you might as well have the xdj rx3 over anything else for the cash 💰as for the upgrade over the rx1 yes defo update if you have the rx2 the upgrades are small the screens very nice indeed and the sound quality and fx are better.

I must confess, the reason I need 3 effects at the same time is because I do weddings and play the same bloody songs every week. I need to f-them up sometimes or make them sound different. Old B52's and REM songs sound better with the effects I've chosen and I as a DJ dont get horrendously bored. I thought this mixer controller gadget can do that.

My son just bought one of these he brought it home the other weekend. I use a ddj 1000 usually. I spent 8 solid hours playing with this😂. I loved it. The x-y pad for the effects was really fun. The only thing i would miss in truth was the sampler for my radio drops. I am considering some sort of sampler app for my phone and running it through the auxiliary channel. A really nice piece of kit imo. Nearly got me divorced tho😂😂😂

Why not just make a track with all your drops? Stitch them together, set hot cues and then you can load it up when you want to? Its what I would do personally. Maybe its too slow for radio drops, I have no clue.

i´ve a XDJ-RX3 since 5 Month and i don´t can really use it.. I come from Serato with DDJ-1000 srt. My problem is that RX3 is still not work with Serato and another problem is that i use since 5 years mp4 (video) as standart and Rekordbox not support mp4 over USB without Laptop..

Is this machine able to analyze music?For example, a usb flash drive with mp3 tracks which is not analyzed in rekordbox. I own xdj-rx and if load non analyzed tracks its like playing with cds.

I do think these machines will be useless once touch screen dj ing is a thing. I played records for 10 years and moved to traktor. Now im on a Akai force with midi controlers and a keyboard. Looking at a Mp midi controler next to have more control. You can be a DJ.Or you can be a atrist with DJ skills. Started as a DJ in 1999 and had a good few years. But realized i wanted to create more than just mixing other peoples music. I moved into a digital and analouge platform that has made me more creative and I have a better understanding of music. Best move i made. Also dont be afraid to try new technoligy. Dont just by the next best same thing as last year.

I use an RX1 and for what i need it's perfect. However, my only gripe with it is the poor high and low tone controls for the microphone which sounds awful instead of a full treble, mid and bass EQ which for someone like myself (and many others) that actually use a mic, find it disappointing that Pioneer have opted for this instead of using their standard 3 EQ dials as found on even their early DJM500 mixers. Sadly it's the same on the RX2 & RX3 which again i find disappointing. Do i need to upgrade to the RX2 or RX3?. No. Yes the new screen looks great but to me that doesn't justify the extra expense and the only other new function to me that makes sense is the new enhanced signal level when using the external AUX output. This now matches the volume levels of the internal players but it's an output i rarely use other than when playing a track from someones phone which tbh i'm surprised wasn't installed on the RX1 model as standard like the mic full eq should of. In summary and in my opinion, if you already have an RX1 or RX2 and your eyesight is at least fair to good then stick with what you have.

@@Jun-dd6kj I take it you don't actually DJ since you find that "hilarious". Pioneer cornered the market very early. The only reason we buy pioneer is because it is the "club standard". Meaning if you want your muscle memory and mixes to translate 100% you need to practice on the same gear at home. It doesn't make pioneer better. Denons high end media players are technically better than pioneers. Pioneers stranglehold on the scene is something you will only understand if you actually DJ and have been doing it for over a decade now. The fact of the matter is no club is just gonna replace the shit we've been using for years with some new setup with a completely different layout overnight and say well there ya go good luck!

I love and hate this unit at the same time. It has everything you need in a compact setup but the technology is incredibly outdated, especially if you compare it to denon. The screen, while big, has very limited information displayed in playlists. You can only see the track title + one other search criteria at the same time without using the info screen. That means you can not see the track title, artist, and bpm at the same time which should be no problem at all in 2022 on such a huge screen. It also features an older generation touch screen. The build quality of the unit is great and it does everything it needs to do. This feels like a high quality, but outdated piece of machinery but for the price of a high end gaming computer Pioneer should do better.

I agree that Denon Engine has more advanced features. However, the FX (color/sweep & beat fx) are very limited, even on a Prime 4. I’m mixing a lot of techno and trance and to me, FX are top priority and the RX3 delivers.

I have a question about not seeing the information you want to like artist title BPM etc. Are saying while playing you cannot see the artist the song or the BPM all the same time,? It's not yet pointless having a laptop because there aren't any standalone controllers with real 4 channels without connecting cdjs in.(so the xz doesn't count because in standalone is a 2 channel controller). If there was a ddj1000 with a screen, then yes a laptop would be completely pointless these days.

@@hibitsounds9755 thanks. I once bought a ddj aero. I loved the unit but.... it kept starting tracks on the wrong beat. Sometime told me I had to sort out the beat grid of each track on my laptop and I could never find out how to do that. I sold it.

@@ashleystyles6888 Why not try The Denon prime 2 or 4? You always have to prep your tracks in a Pioneer. In Denon it can be done in the unit itself. I switched to Denon and the transition is easy, more bang for your buck. There is hardly any diferance betwrrn mixing on a Pioneer or a Denon.

Bought mine back in November, upgrade from a controller and the difference is frightening! Between my son and I we’ve pretty much used it daily. The line selector is in a good position to run my turntables through it with ease, which saved me another £700 not going for the xz. No problems at all, although the USB ports did worry me, never gave a USB adapter a thought, thanks for that Jonathan 👍🏻

I upgraded from the RX2 gladly cuz I’ve made a bit of money DJing out and I wanted to grab something from the newest generation but I personally don’t think it’s really a massive change other than the screen and the new tech it supports (3000 style, Tri-band EQ waveforms). If you wanted an upgrade from the RX2 that wouldn’t totally break your bank getting club standard equipment I’d personally get the XZ or wait for the XZ2 which will include the same 3000 generation screen / tech

I'm a Denon Prime Go User, it's just a nice little unit I can shove in a backpack for short DJ sets, no power pack required. Prime I feel is better value for money. Especially as the Prime 2 in on offer for £999 at the mo. The overall build just feels better to me. The fact you can control your lights from them now too is another bonus. I also own a Rane One tho, as well as turntables and Mixers Quattro with phase , so I like to think I have all bases covered.

I don't like it. The screen, although bigger, still feels cluttered. The jogs should be bigger, like in ddj-1000. The price for this 2 channel standalone is just a huge joke. Denon owns this thing on so many layers with its prime standalone. I'm sure the RX3 quality feels top notch, like every pionner dj product, but it's features just feel outdated.
