What I love most about these two, apart from the difference they have made in people's lives, is that they are so comfortable with themselves and each other. The fact that there is clearly a lesbian subtext/maintext thing in Xena has never bothered either actress, it seems and they are so comfortable with their own self and sexuality just to play as requested from them. That is true self confidence and self pride and something to admire.

This happened to be a script that Katherine Fugate wrote for the fans this con. Her original cast was on Saturday with Claudia Black playing the part of Xena. On sunday the fans requested Lucy to do the script with Ren and she did it! So yeah Lucy didn't know what the script was about, much less that Gabrielle was supposed to propose to Xena lol! =D

Now that I think about it I wish these two would have been on the L word. Lucy was in the final episode. Ive always thought of these two when I watch the L word. Reminds me of Bette and Tina. I haven't had the money to buy Xena dvds but next month I will. I really only got to watch a couple of seasons of Xena. Lucy and Renee couldn't really handle anymore. The show was extremely taxing physically on them. Lucy said in an interview that she maybe could have done one more season but that was all. It took them a long time to recover when they finished filming a season she said. I miss it terribly...thank God for Netflix and Hulu :)

@@pwpg06 Well both accurately true. But all have to realize both shows Hercules and Xena was filmed on location. NZ. And the cost for production... salaries... everything that goes into making the shows cost $$$$ for each day. And I think NZ has a high tax rates. So it's not the show was cancelled or anything. Just too expensive. Now if NBC would have granted the reboot. The show would still cost hefty price. And who would replace Kevin Smith as Ares. Making a popular tv show....cost $m.

I'm happy properly for the first time in awhile. I'm on the verge of crying. And it is because of this video and this something I'm so very thankful for. This brings back nostalgia, and good, pure feelings of happiness. And while fictional characters getting married probably shouldn't instigate feelings like this, I'm still grateful for the feeling nonetheless. As you can tell by the PAINFULLY cheesy speech up above, I like my 'Xena'. And now, what I hoped would always happen FINALLY has. YAY!

It would have been. But in a way the fact it didn’t happen on the show is what makes this such a special moment. I disliked the ending , I’m all for sad endings but it really made no sense to me at all for so many reasons. But in a way I’m glad it didn’t end with a happy ever after like this. Because maybe if it had then it would have been complete. Finished. Closure. And for me a big part of why it still affects ne so much decades later is the sense of not being finished. And all the little subtextual clues along the way open up so much for the imagination, a lot of creativity in fan fiction , and just this sense of longing for them to be together , and I think if they had ended up together like this maybe some of the magic of the hope and imagination wouldn’t be there. So I’m sort of glad it didn’t end like this, If only because all these years later everyone is brought together again making moments like these. But yes I have to say the ending to the show was poorly done. I’m not opposed to a sad end or even one or them dying , but it really came from nowhere and yes it felt like Xena choosing someone else over Gabrielle , and in a way falling back into the darkness of her past instead of the light of the present. And the whole guilt thing I get it , but I t always strikes me that if the tables were turned and it was Gabrielle wanting to sacrifice her life to free the doomed souls or whatever it was , I don’t watch it much that episode arc, but if it were gaby I imagine that Xena would move heaven and earth, go to hell and back , literally , to save her from that fate and to show that giving her life up isn’t the way to do it , so many times theh overcame situations , even death , and Xena gives up so easily that really felt to me like a betrayal of Gabrielle. And I guess Xena had lived with a lot of guilt for years and maybe she had enough couldn’t take any more. But she didn’t stop to think of Gabrielle. Or of those in the world she could help who needed her. Or even try to find and out. In my imagination and fan fic that leaves Gaby in a very dark place certainly not at peace as the show depicts , so yes the ending was not ideal , but despite that so many years later fans and actors are still talking about the show , people are still writing fiction , lives are still being touched so profoundly , a very powerful show and amazing ladies.

I think there should be another season, with both of them older, like what happened with the x files. I wouldn't really want to see a reboot with other actresses playing their parts. I could do with less fighting. Xena is a very smart and ingenious character. So maybe there could be a way to bring her back to life somehow, with Gabrielle searching for years a way to bring Xena back from the dead. Because the never gave up hope. So, maybe they could still make the world a better place and save mankind, in a more strategical way, you know.. And then they could, at last, live the love they always had for each other.. They are older, so it wouldn't be wise to make it like back then.. And also, Lucy doesn't like action scenes that much, so this version would make her happy too..

In the show it was never stated that they were gay. Both characters were seen having relationships with men. There is some lesbian context to the relationship between them but never anything that was actually acted on. A lot of fans have assumed they were lovers, and even the actors themselves have said (or at least Lucy has) that Gabrielle and Xena were "soul mates and lovers."
