Looking back, this episode was a goodbye to the roots of Xena. The Hercules series was built on Herc's relationships with Zeus and Hera and a later love interest with Xena. This episode got rid of Zeus and Hera and made it clear that Hercules and Xena's passion had faded into friendship. In some ways, it felt like a final episode of Hercules, and I think Sorbo had already ended his show. It's ironic: Xena gave birth while bidding farewell to the storyline that birthed her character.

Two of the first characters to go bye bye before Hercules were Eli (on earth before Ares killed him) and Callisto. There was no more Draco either after this!

2:39 Hercules had his share of trouble by failing to tell Xena something too, his marriage to Serena until after her death in "Judgment Day" which is an episode where the heroes and sidekicks fought side by side besides "Prometheus" (I wish Iolaus and Gabrielle would have encountered each other again on this ep but Iolaus didn't appear here).

I'm guessing the reason Iolaus didn't appear was so the Gods didn't have an even tougher time. I mean, they had their hands full with Hercules, Xena, and Gabrielle already. Iolaus would've been overkill for them. Hercules also wouldn't have ended on such a peaceful note with Hera in the same manner, if at all. As for Iolaus and Gabrielle, those two didn't get enough screen time together. They had a connection, but they were either too busy to hang out properly when given the chance, or their time was cut short. The last time they were in the same episode together was in "Judgement Day" from season 3 of Hercules, and thus Iolaus never saw Gabrielle progress as a warrior on the last couple of seasons of Xena.

@@nike316 correct. The last time Iolaus encountered Gabrielle was in an "alternative" timeline on Armageddon Now II when it seemed like she and Xena never partnered. In fact that was the timeline of Evil Xena Iolaus went back to to hunt down Callisto, where both Callisto and her younger self were encountered.

@@trevorbuehler3273, yup, Hercules and Xena became friends after the episode "Prometheus". They were still in touch(off screen mostly), but they were on separate paths.

@@nike316true. Ever since I saw the Prometheus ep in May 1999 on Cable, I have always looked forward to seeing TV guide articles that had both sidekicks' names listed the same day. For example, when they played "Revelations" and "Ides Of March" in Sept/Oct 1999, that was one reairing point where both sidekicks' names were included in the articles relevant to the shows' content.
