The Hrud are interesting because as gross, destructive and parasitical they may be, they don’t seem to actually want to cause pain and destruction. It seems like their fringe existence is in some ways the result of a conscious attempt to minimize the perilous effect of their entropic nature on the outside world. If they really wanted to, they could do much more damage. Still, the fact that they seem to occasionally capture and enslave humans is a troubling counterpoint, although that may be uncommon.

Maybe, like many sapient species, the Hrud are not composed of a single faction but a multitude of differing or even conflicting ones.

Seems like the best way to trap a Hrud is through Necron tech. Necrodermis lasts for ages, and Necrons have been known to trap shards of star gods in their labyrinths.

A certain video analysis from a very verbose and some what "controversial"(supposedly) Vox caster is not the first time I have heard of the Yu'Vath. But it did rekindle the memories of them being mentioned.

I think the Hrud could pose a pretty serious danger to the galaxy if the tyranids ever get a hold of them. What could the nids do with time based biological weapons?

Yeah, that seems like a nightmare scenario. While hrud as a species can probably keep hiding even in a galaxy completely overrun by tyranids, a few members ought to get discovered sooner or later and if norn-queen acts quckly that's all tyranids need to develop themselves similar abilities.

Assuming the Tyranids could actually consume them and not be time-wasted if they get close. But if anyone could manage it, it would be the Nids or the Orks.

The tyranids are unlikely to utilize such a weapon. I mean, they might try, but they would soon conclude it wasn't worth it. Unleashing it would age and kill all nearby tyranid bioforms instantly and would degrade/destroy valuable biomatter in the area. Unless....unless they figured out how to give an infiltrator, say, a Genestealer or Lictor, such a power, and tell it to suicide bomb vital targets like planetary void shield generators or senior officers. It could be quite the assassination and sabotage tool.

So it's pretty obvious from older pictures and descriptions that the Hrud were supposed to be space skaven but hopefully going of the much more detailed autopsy picture we can hope that if GW were to ever make models or make solid fiction on them (very unlikely) they go with the much more interesting race in this case based off the autopsy.

They are certainly Old One creations. But originally they didn't have a purpose beyond "let's make some cute fluffy little people to amuse us." But when the C'Tan and Necrons went on the offensive, they were given adaptations to be able to escape the C'tan. But... who knows... maybe their abilities to travel anywhere via warp and adapt technology to their own use-- perhaps they were meant to be a weapon to infiltrate the Tomb Worlds and sabotage them from the inside. But the Old One in charge of them didn't manage to put them to use, just told them he would be back soon and left. So they used their abilities to just run away and hide.

Do the Hrud only push time forward? I remember in the book where the Iron Warriors fought them they caused a servitor to age backwards and the mechanical parts fell off but the human remaining was insane.

Can only say. The Hrud won't like my casting plasma rounds at them from my plasma gun. Try and stop superheated plasma travelling at super sonic speeds with your foul time bending abilities Xenos. If not plasma then melta weaponry. You might be able to bend time. But you cannot bend thermodynamics.
