Xenoblade 3 - 400mil Chain Attack

Setup Explaination (Gear shown at the end of the video)
Taion - As the character with the highest base tp out of the whole cast, his role is to reach for the bravo rating on round 1 and amazings on all future chain attack rounds. Aerial Slash is incursor's highest damage art and fused with Hidden Thorn. This is a powerful bleed and actually gets its damage cap increased depending on certain gear setups. Glitter Stream, Shield Bash, Soaring Tempest are standard combo reactions and Mystic Vision is a Crit damage increase although wasn't used. Its important to note, Taion has Swelling Scourge X gem and a Rage Amulet accessory. Both of those increases the strength of bleed and is what increases the damage cap for the bleed tick.
Noah/Eunie - Noah and Eunie have the next highest base TP which lets Taion reach Amazing on round 2 without using more additional characters than necessary. They're built for support Soulhacker primarily focusing on increased buff strength. Desperate Chage + Battle Pheromone are incredibly powerful Crit Buffs and can be maintained throughout the Chain Attack. The only major difference between this Soulhacker Build and the others is one of the skills increases buff strength instead of increasing damage. Dragon's decree is fused with Draining Vacuum so that they can pass power charge while still doing damage. They have a gem to increase HP on revival because setting this up with 15+ mobs in combat is difficult and this helps making sure everyone is alive when the chain attack starts.
Mio/Lanz - Damage Soulhackers. This time buffing isn't the main focus so the Gem mentioned earlier is replaced with Attack Up. Transient bond is fused with Draining Vacuum this time for the most damage. Even though Wild Wave + Elimination Beam is the strongest fusion, I don't use them because they're forward AOE attacking arts which ruins the whole setup of keeping a pack of mobs alive.
Sena - AOE Nuker. This build is very similar to Mio and Lanz's setup but replaced one of the skills for a skill that increases the range of AOE attack arts. Sena still has Draining Vacuum and Transient Bond for the second to last round of damage. She has Psychowave, an AOE art around the user and does increased damage to Keves enemies (which we so happen to be against). This is fused with Elimination Beam for high damage.
Fiona - Not much to say here since you can only adjust what arts are used and the accessories. Analyzer Scope increases base TP by 10 which was important to reach Amazing on round 2. The other accessories are for increasing damage for when Fiona does her Order finisher.

0:26 It's actually not playing on easy mode that does this, but rather just Fiona's level being high enough. The effects of your chain orders and hero orders scale with your level, so have it high enough and Fiona's hero order allows you to squeeze out that second additional one.

I believe its a combination of both difficulty and character level. I couldn't get 2 round extensions while playing on hard mode and I haven't seen any say they've gotten 7 rounds on hard difficulty. Haven't tested normal mode.

@@voidfilledheart Hard Mode specifically does modify certain chain attack mechanics in annoying ways; Easy sets enemy resistances to their base value, Normal doubles that, and hard triples (at least from what I've recorded)- this also seems to apply to the special enrage resistance bonus that can't be canceled out with Noah's Brave Order. Hard Mode also reduces all chain attack damage increases to 2/5th of the natural increase when completing an order, with an exception to the starting value which is instead half of what it normally is. I wasn't able to see anything which implies Hard Mode directly reduces Brave Order effects when I was documenting my stuff, but I did notice that brave orders with roughly equal damage sums did overall have much lower damage output on hard compared to easy/normal as a whole, so I'd gander Hard also modifies that-- that or I really wasn't watching my crits.

You deal more damage to a launched target innately. Daze on the other hand pauses all aggro generated during the duration. Also Taion's build has skills that benefit from attacking a launched enemy.

I need single target arts. Wild wave and elimination beam are aoe arts and will kill all the nearby enemies. eunie/taion does do more damage but their orders are more important to get early in the chain attack

You might of done more damage if you did the Eunie/Taion Ouroboros order last since the Ouroboros skill that increases damage from number of buffs on party from Eunie affects Ouroboros order as well, not to mention you can transfer a weaker version of the skill to Taion

Couldn't you apply the buffs before starting the chain? Much harder might be to apply the Launch before the chain as well, but perhaps might be possible if you had one of your chars at level 1 or something

Yes it would be better to get all those before starting the chain attack. However, I have 15 enemies killing all my party members one at a time over and over again. Realistically its near impossible to get buffs before starting the chain attack

I really like how Soulhacker has incredible buffs that can be used throughout the chain attack but I do want a hero that focuses on that niche rather than just Soulhacker. Debuff heroes could be interesting as well, especially if they have a way to pause debuff durations similar to Glittering Melody for buffs.

As long as you select a pair no matter the order, they give you Ouroboros Order for that pair. Example: 1. You select Taion 2. Noah 3. Mio 4. Noah&Mio's Order appears, but you skip it 5. Eunie 6. Taion&Eunie's Order appears Btw you can only do this when Fiona is in party, as any other Heroes won't give you chance to select 2 pairs in one go.

I have the debuff effect up gem on Taion so the damage from the Bleed debuff via Hidden thorn is stronger. Debuff effect up gem and the accessory Rage amulet actually increases the damage cap of the bleed tick.

I’ve always wondered this: can the skills that “lower enemy defense by X” make enemies have negative defenses? Also, how exactly do the skills that “ignore X of enemy’s defense” work? I always wrote them off as being inferior to skills that boost your own damage rather than reduce enemy defense, but I don’t actually know

@Squire Ashera is fantastic for Chain Attacks but just kinda "good" for everything else. Tanks have never really been balanced well in Xenoblade and can't keep aggro when your Attackers are doing big numbers. Ashera's no exception, though she does slightly better than the rest, I guess.

You can only use 3 base, 1 hero and an ouro normally but fiona's order (the colony mu commander) refills the gauge allowing 2 additional orders when done at the right time

@@loganreidy7055 you're wrong that's not what noah does. enemies don't have 100% physical and ether defense. it's like your character that have like 20% physical defense and 15% ether defense so, unless an enemy has more than 50% phy or ether defense it doesn't do more than eunie and talon's orders

I need to use Eunie and Taion's orders early in the chain attack. Lanz/Sena finisher has a damage increase against enemies in a combo reaction on top of the normal damage bonus you get from launch. Incursor afaik has no access to a smash attack so even if it was better than a damage cap bleed, I wouldn't be able to.

Considering that we're at over 400 million only a month after the game's launch, plus we're getting 2 DLC heroes, I would not be surprised if we hit a billion. That being said, Fiona is already busted enough to probably compare to the DLC heroes when those come out

Hm, I wrote off Bleed at first because it's resistable by enemies and only damages once per 2 seconds, on top of there being accessories for giving 50%+ damage buffs on Blaze but I'll have to look at it again and I figured a ton of healers would be involved but I've been using Thaumaturge for a while for a damage buff during chain attacks (I'm guessing Desperate Charge+Battle Pheromone is just a significantly better version of this), as well as Incursor+Cross Impact+Aerial Slash (Taion being based DPS as usual)

Exp bonus depends on the enemy you face. Because I’m level 99 and easily nuke the poor level 40 soldier, I can make the exp bonus skyrocket. But the actually exp value I would’ve gotten from it is still low because it’s an enemy not around my level

Soulhacker has the ability to change its roles. It's an extra skill slot in the skills menu

How are you able to attack with more than 4 characters? Everytime I finish my fourth order, the chain Attack ends.

You can see the chain attack gauge drain by 1/3 each round. Fiona's chain order refills it. On easy mode, that'll give you two more rounds. Hero and Ouroboros orders don't count against the gauge either. So that's three rounds minimum, then basically +3 for easy mode Fiona (other heroes give +1, since they still don't drain the gauge), and +1 for the Ouroboros round.

Fiona also recharges two Chain Attacks when chosen third on Normal (and likely even Hard). The other number I like raising stupidly high is the TP gauge. Using (abusing?) Segiri, I somehow reached 448%.

Fiona doesn’t recharge enough for 2 extra rounds on hard mode. Haven’t tested normal mode. The reason why is because easy mode has a 1.5 modifier for chain attack build up. This works on Fiona’s chain order and gets her a second round whereas on hard mode it’s actually a 0.75 mod. Using Segiri is fun but unfortunately, going insanely beyond 200% doesn’t increase damage ratio any further than just reaching 200%
