This is where I realised just how far the series has come, I won't say anything further for the actual context but the music really adds to the situation that the party finds themselves in. Such an amazing DLC. I look forward to the day where you experience Future Redeemed cos it's so special! :)

Indeed, these Black Mountain tracks are incredible! (Probably spoilers for the Smile horror film duology?) The Black Mountains "Part 2" - Night theme's first half, in particular reminds me of loneliness and isolation, with how quiet and somber it is, and part of the two Smile films deal with being "imprisoned" by that very same loneliness and isolation, so i for one feel that the second half of the track is so, so uplifting, what with the drums and guitar, like that solemn determination is what will help one break free of that prison of trauma.

Nice surprise to see these songs come up! To answer the question, there is definitely another version of the day theme out there, in a similar vein to the night themes. Man, I love these songs. Future Redeemed has to be one of the best dlc I've ever played, could even maybe be the best. Absolutely blew me away.

I could've sworn that this track was composed by Yasunori Mitsuda because of his style, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was written by Mariam Abounnasr, also a member of Procyon Studio, but mostly associated with arrangement or orchestration duties.

@@relinquishh I would if I could, but being disabled means no income, means no games. Only reason I was able to play base game is thanks to account sharing with a friend. It's fine, though, it's not just the dlc I'm looking forward to seeing Jesse play. I thoroughly enjoy all of his video game playthroughs, so the wait won't be too bad

@@relinquishh I would have thought that "disabled" and "no income" was enough information to convey that I have a grand total of zero dollars to my name, with no way of making more. That includes "for the absolute essentials". I do not, and cannot, support myself, and due to some rather...complex situations, I do not receive government assistance either. So yes, I do not have 20 dollars, let alone a single dollar, to treat myself. I continue to exist despite my unique circumstances solely through the good graces of family and friends who look after me.

If you want some good videos on XC1 and 2, KingK has some really good video essays on those games. The videos were made pre-XC3, so there are no spoilers to worry about. In the XC2 video, there's like a 2 second reference to something from one of the trailers, but that's the only instance of anything XC3 related.

When you go to play this bit I hope you notice there’s actually four versions of this song. The mountain is quite a bit different in the back half of the climb we’ll just say and I much prefer the secondary versions which add some instruments to the mix, but I’ll let you hear how that sounds in your own playthrough.

Xenoblade 3 is about helping Mario find his brother Luigi who got lost in a game crossover portal that Bowser made. Where did he end up? Maybe in Kirby's universe? Maybe Star Fox's? Or F-Zero? You will have to play to find out!

If I'm not wrong, The Black Mountains is the only one that has two versions for each day and night time. I was almost sort of hoping you wouldn't listen to these until you got to the games because the titles that differentiate them gives you clues you might not want if you wanted to go into the games as blind as possible, but I mean... they're too good NOT to listen them lol. But yes, that means you did miss the day time version of the "PrIsOn IsLaNd" version of The Black Mountains. ...which is my personal favorite of the four which may not be surprising. But like the PI night version adding a lot more pizzazz to the VM version, the daytime PI version is the same way. And as for your ideas of where this plays and why... ...oh just you wait and see. It'll blow you away. Can't wait to see it!

If you're concerned about spoilers, know that the titles of the songs was a _far_ bigger spoiler than the cover art. That said, if the titles prompted a billion questions, then it's generally not a bad thing to see them.

This was composed and arranged by Mariam Abounnasr. Her biggest involvement with the series has been arranging almost but not all of Yasunori Mitsuda's music for the Xenoblade games. Black Mountains was her one and only solo-composition for all games, and what a song it was. It really makes me wish she gets a shot at more original music for future Xeno games. Unfortunately, the fourth and final variation you missed was "Black Mountains - Prison Island" (the day variation) which plays in the back half of this area, where she really amps up the drums and guitar, and is arguably the best version of all four, as it feels like a great climactic score for the trilogy as a whole, as it really gives you a "this is it" feeling.
