Gmaniac01 I honestly think X is better. It improved on everything except maybe story, but the characters were still lovable, and the story still had a few jaw-dropping plot twists (like every Xeno game, and they're all good!).

I liked X's gameplay and exploration. They're more fleshed out. I kinda disliked the chapter by chapter story missions though. It didn't flow as smoothly as Xenoblade's story. I also wish some of the affinity missions were longer, or if we can have more of them because some characters weren't fleshed out enough. I think having 18 playable characters may have been overdoing it. Fewer characters with more in depth back stories are better than many characters with only a little back story.

Both games benefit in some areas. XC has a more varied and gorgeous world while X's world is bigger, more alive and better textured. XC has a better main story, better written characters and better humour while X has a bigger and better side story and a pretty good concept of the main story (too bad there are too many plotholes and the ending to make it work better). XC's combat is simpler, but feels more personal to each party member while X's is more dymanic, varied and customizable. XC's exploration feels more rewarding while X's is more managable. I agree, they're both great, although they do a lot of thing differently. And that's actually their charm.

Is it just me, or was Chugaaconroy responsible for increasing this games popularity? Don't get me wrong, the game was well known before his let's play, but when he constantly talked about it in his videos and then finally sat down and let's played it, many things started to happen; X's name was revealed to be Xenoblade Chronicles X, Shulk being in smash, Xenoblade Chronicles 3d, Reyn Time being thrown back and forth (It was already a meme, but he increased it to be a bigger meme as it is). He is definitely the one who influenced many gamers to buy this game, and even gave away 30 copies of the game (No, I'm not joking, look at his reveal trailer for his let's play). Nintendo themselves even sent him a free super early copy of the game. And now its being re-released on virtual console. Say what you want about Emile, but this man is truly amazing.

Chuggaa is absolutely one of the main reasons this has gained popularity. I think the other reason is the hype train for Xenoblade Chronicles X. The majority of the streamers that I watch that are playing this played X first and are just now experiencing this game because they loved X.

If this was Final Fantasy XVI I'm sure you'll say "its one of the best games of the franchise", c'mon man, I played a bunch of jrpgs (when I say bunch is more than 30) and this one is top 5 for sure. Anyway, we have different opinions and I like that, but the soundtrack, the battle system and the plot is just amazing. Xenoblade Chronicles X was a bit of a letdown for me, but still a great game that I put 100h on it. Xenoblade 300 tho XD

This game still has the most amazing locations I've seen in any game on any machine, past and present. Satorl marshes at night, the Ethereal sea and Frontier Village are just a few breath taking locations.

Everyone, if you haven't played the original xenoblade game, but this. It's an amazing game. It's worth it. Heck I'm going to buy it again just because it's that amazing. I definitely liked it more then X(although I have to admit, X did some things better then the original. Like showing you side quest on the map)

+Juckle X did pretty much everything better except for the story. Inventory management is far better in X, levelling up and character augmentation is more stream lined, side quests are both more meaningful and properly managed (also more markers and the guide ball help to find some of the more irksome things), combat is better with more emphasis on enemy weak points and overall the world is bigger, more detailed and has more to discover and find. Also you aren't held back by the story and have a lot more freedom in general. The game's elements also go together far better. Like how probes encourage you to explore, but at the same time also reward you with more resources and money to work with. The only downside to so many enhanced game play mechanics is the games story is a little more bare bones. Especially compared to the incredibly story heavy original Xenoblade. I honestly wish they'd remake the original Xenobalde with all the game play enhancements of X... then it woul dbe a perfect game.

No kidding. That, and a lot of side quests are segmented. Not segmented exactly, but a lot of them melded together to form a detailed story. My personal favorite is the one where you have to deal with a zealous group of anti xeno genociders. I felt like I was fighting ww2.

+TheMaverickk X made exploration, side quests, and combat much better and more streamlined, except for gathering quests. Those are a pain since they don't give you any indication of where to find the items. Xenoblade had the better stories and characters, and the combat makes more sense in the context of the story as well. The characters actually use their arts in the cutscenes whereas in X they just stand around until you begin the battle. Things I missed from Xenoblade that wasn't in X are talent arts, chain attacks, unique arts and fighting styles (everyone in X shares the same arts for the most part depending on the weapon they use), character battle end quotes, and visions. Even though X made the combat better for the single character you are playing as, it has less emphasis on actually working as a team. Soul voice doesn't make me feel more like a team than using chain attacks. Being able to stop a vision was also extremely satisfying. Also with the story, X never made me feel like my life was in danger. I mean yeah, the Earth was destroyed, but I always felt like this OP invincible main character. I think being a silent protagonist influenced this as well. Along with that, Elma is pretty much calm and collected no matter how dire the situation was, so I never felt like I was in danger with Elma around. And for every big enemy they introduce, they just get beaten by MC and Elma by the end of the chapter. In Xenoblade, there was a huge build up to Xord and Metal Face, and you were pretty much helpless against them for a long time. The mechon felt more menacing than the ganglion. Also the ganglion leader was a joke. He's got nothing on the final boss(es) of Xenoblade.

Yami Mmm.... Gathering Quests in X are still way easier than in Xenoblade. Simply because of the item frequencies and so forth. I'm sorry but don't make me bring up the Black Liver Bean of the original Xenoblade. Combat in X makes sense in regards to story. Where the original Xenoblade had Shulks special Monado arts and the ability to see the future, X has the overclock ability which relates to the fact that all the characters are actually synthetic humans (well robots and basically advanced computer bodies) which allow themselves to overclock and break the limits of speed and so forth when it comes to using their arts. Combat overall in X is far more sensible, especially in regard to accounting for all the mods you can use (from augments, to skills, to skells)... which is why players cap at 60 while bosses cap at 100. The thing about X is that the arts are specific to classes. There was no class changing in the original Xrnoblade Chronicles. In X only the player character can change classes. So arts are still character specific... but at the same time every art is still shared with the player character... and certain special characters are variations of certain class combinations. In any case I'm not arguing Xenoblades story. Since It was all about story in that title. It's the part that far exceeds X. You are given a reason to hate Metal Face early on and it makes every confrontation with him satisfying. The stakes are clearly higher since the world is literally at risk of being destroyed, and there are several characters who are forced to die by the players hands due to the manipulation of the enemy (thinking of Gadot and Kallian here). Anyhow that said it doesn't change the fact that visually X is better, the world is larger and the journey more personal (especially for those of us who put ourselves into the game world thanks to character customization). I still return to explore Mira before that of the Bionis and Mechonis (although the mechonis wasn't really a world with much to explore). The side quests may not have been as epic but still really felt like a lot of heart was put into them and were especially more creative. To sweep X under the rug simply because the story didn't set up the same grand anime-esque stakes battle is a bit unfair. It had a lot of other things it offered the original wasn't able to deliver.

I love both games. I know my comment only made it seem negative so I apologize. I definitely agree it has the best world to explore and the side quests were much better. I love the side quests more than the main story. It makes the world feel alive, and I had several WTF moments with them. The two games feel incredibly different but they are both amazing. I was just reminiscing the parts I missed about the original.
