Developers are perfectly capable of making their game work day one, they just dont and rely on patches as a crutch. It's made worse that customers are perfectly okay with it and SUPPORT the developers. Seriously, fallout 4 was a buggy mess on both consoles and on PC.

BlaizeTheDragon to be fair, fallout kinda set itself up for the bugs and glitches. i don't think it was built from the ground up to handle what it was trying to accomplish. they would've needed a lot more time to fix it in it's current form. i could be wrong but i think it was once intended to be released on ps3 as well. either that or it's really disappointing that they are still releasing games with frame rate issues and glitches. they probably had some development issues that they haven't spoke of. (there's no proof of any of that, just an assumption). could be they were on a tight deadline

+zelda foxx maybe. But I think working with proper limitations is probably a good part of what made it seem seamless. They didn't let ambition to simply just use whatever latest hardware muscle to get in the way of content scope and polish. They got the art direction and lighting down and curbed certain things so that all that time is to polish a very large project. This often happens on the PC as well. Usually the most polished gems are the ones that aren't so hardware intensive.

Gamespot gave this game an 8 Polygon gave this game a 7 Wondering what IGN will give it. The main points they criticized it for were the music, story and cos it had "over complicated" systems. I think a lot of the hold handing nature of AAA open world games today has made reviewers start to think less when playing. So when games that actually challenge them come along (that isnt a Miyazaki game, cos that just gets a free pass even if the game is designed to fuck you over), they just say "it was too hard" as an excuse for why they didnt understand the systems of the game. I mean it is there opinion, but you'd think in a big JRPG like this they'd make more of an effort to understand a lot of those systems. I mean Eurogamer gave it 5/5 and didnt majorly criticize the game for the systems it has. I think often the mindset of game reviewers with open world games these days is, get through the game as quickly as possible by reading what the on screen notifications tell me to do. I dont think thats something you can do with Xenoblade, and its probably meant that they found it harder to progress cos they didnt put as much time into understanding the game as they should have. But whatever. I just hope this game doesnt suffer in sales because of those scores. Honestly this was a great review Derrick and probably your best yet. And I cant wait to play the game itself. Two best games I've played so far this year have been MGSV and Witcher 3. This could challenge those as my GOTY.

God I love this game. Every single piece of it is about exploration. The gameplay? XenoX has a variety of systems that you won't fully understand if you don't take the time to explore them. The story? It isn't all that just blasting through it, but if you explore the expansive sidequests you'll find yourself totally engrossed. The characters? They may seem one note at first, but if you explore their various affinity unlocks you'll find a wealth of character depth. The graphics? They may not seem impressive, but if you explore the world you'll often find yourself just looking at things. The music? Explore the v...no actually exploration doesn't really do much here you either love it or hate it. The world design? Every nook and cranny has something to offer, even the last place you'll think to look. It satisfied an itch deep inside, and it leaved wanting to go back even two years later.

I'm glad for the ability to get the stat bonuses from armour without actually seeing it on your character. Cutscenes in the first Xenoblade could get pretty unintentionally silly depending on your armour setup. (Although it was sometimes fun intentionally ruining the mood like that)

That is impossible. There is only 8760 hours in a year but it has only passed about 7 months since the game came out and this video was uploaded which is only 5110.01 hours. So to fill that you need to play 3889.99 hours more which is 5.328747585 months more. So playing it 9000+ hours is impossible.

in case it wasn't explained yet, every time one of the squad tasks (shown at the bottom right) gets cleared, a mission becomes available that can be done together in multiplayer which is accessed from the barracks, or done with your ai companions. sometimes during this mission you can unlock even more missions. these missions give a lot of rewards like materials, a nice sum of money and around 11-20 reward tickets. having everything cleared + all missions done gets you a massive reward ticket bonus. ive only managed to get them all done once but it gave 203 reward tickets. these missions are pretty simple and usualy take only about 5 minutes. during either the squad tasks shown at the bottom of screen beeing available, or upon 1 beeing completed you can also access the world raid boss/nemesis mission

This is an amazing review! I have not been very interested in this game since about a month ago. And could not find any real specific information about gameplay and other game defining features and details with no spoilers. But still, I wanted to know what all the fuss was about. And now that the game is out and reviews commence to appear, this was the definite review I wanted; not too much about the story and characters and just explains... everything else about the game and more. For example, when I thought to myself: "So Skells are just a win feature", I was proven otherwise with great explanation. And that is EXACTLY why this review is so great; the in-depth explanations of important features. Sorry for this lengthy rant of mine. But I was certain that Fallout 4 was the way to go for me, now that I finally got some money in hand, but I was proven so wrong by this review. I'm totally going to buy Xenoblade Chronicles X! That would be nice, but you might want to check to see how long you expect to completely finish the vanilla content. This is the largest seamless world to date, that isn't the procedurally generated PC version of Minecraft. As an all handcrafted world, this is the largest.

Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii/3DS) is one of my favorite games ever, but X feels like a huge stumble backwards. I was extremely excited until I played it. They through out character development and story so we could customize an avatar. The original game was so story driven that you began to feel connected to the characters and their plot. It probably also helped that they weren't humans from earth. My other problem with X is the music. The original game's title screen music is perhaps one of the best ever (even beating out Zelda) and it continued with outstanding music. X has music that loops every minute and some with baffling vocals. I started muting the TV while in NLA as both the day/night music make me want to stab myself in the ears. The battle music is also ruined in the same way. It'd probably be okay if it just didn't have vocals. I really wish their was an option to turn the music off.

For me, based on what Derrick says, my numerical score would be a 9.4 I couldn't care less about the online as my Internet doesn't cooperate well with my Wii U, but the pop-ins deduct about a 0.6 from the score. I loved the combat in the first game and that awesome buzz you get after defeating a really tough enemy, so I'm glad that's still around, but still changed so it doesn't seem repetitive. Also from the music I've heard, the OST sound phenomenal, with tracks like Black Tar (Skell Version), Uncontrollable, Theme X, and Sylvalum Night standing out the most to me. CAN'T WAIT TO FOR MY SPECIAL EDITION TO REACH MY HOUSE!!

+Tanay Suryavanshi I'm so jealous, the special edition sold out before I could preorder it. But I've got the game and the guide book coming, so it'll have to do. Also, there's nothing wrong with disliking the pop-ins. I imagine that will annoy quite a few people (I'm one of them), but I think we'll get used to it after the first few hours. Overall, I think it's a small price to pay to avoid loading screens everywhere. :)

This is by far the most detailed video game review i have ever seen. I have the money to buy a new console. I have the PS4 already, but i want this game so bad. +Twilord I'd be happy if they made it something simple like a custom color layout (basically re-structuring what part is determined by what color factor; a simple job but one that highlights the 'exclusivity' of the amiibo) and one or two custom weapons. If they could avoid doing anything involving unique Skells or having the characters in-game, I'd be totally on board with that. ...That said, I might be open to expansions or add-ons if they add stuff like Skells modeled after the Faces or enemies and locations from the first Xenoblade.

Rodin Claus Simple reskins would be ideal for me. Nothing game altering. That said a Samus Skell that turned into a Morphball and a Link Skell that turned into a Mecha-Wolf, while both being functionally identical to existent Skells, would be lovely.

Also, I personally like the curator division because I saw the actions that give more points and there are two things that I like to do the most when I have no idea where to go or what to do are kill tyrants and collect nearly everything on the feild which are the things that give the curator more points.

How is Xenoblade Chronicles X as far as a family friendly level??? My parents are bit strict of what I'm allowed to play, so that why I'm asking. Some Nintendo games have had the T rating before, but it didn't really matter, like Brawl and Melee.

It's not that bad. There's some "swearing" (characters saying heck or damn, nothing really to be concerned about), the game deals with some more mature topics as death and such (but not in a horror way or anything like that) and there's some splatter animations here and there, but again nothing over the top. It's definately not a kid's game, but it's not GTA/COD/... levels of violent either.

The "quests" you called Squad Missions are actually Squad Tasks. For every squad task that is completed, Squad Missions are unlocked for a short time that can be taken, the more tasks completed the higher level the ones available, so completing one task might unlock level 15 missions, completing all 5 will unlock that mission, as well as more missions all the way up to the level cap. The squad missions are the portion you can actually group with other people for, and you scale down to whatever the level of the mission is so you can always get a challenge out of them. There's more to it as well.
