Xenon Music Level 1 - Atari ST

One of my all-time favorite video game music. An edgy and awesome tune that goes perfectly alongside the futuristic visuals in this game not to mention that digitized guy introducing each stage, "Sector one" and so on (who is apparently one of the development team members, Eric Matthews), the whole thing is simply unforgettable. And when compared to the Amiga port, the ST original version has lower frame rate but also better and more fitting music IMO. And this tune also sounds better on ST than on ZX Spectrum 128 since the latter has simpler instruments and lacks that sustained, "swirling" note that appears at various points of the track (at 0:00, 0:52, etc.) and that takes the ST version to another level!

Far superior to the Amiga version of the same tune, which tries to use every possible instrument and disappears up its own bum compositionally. Plus I love the high pitched wobbly channel hanging around in certain bits.

surprisingly it happened quite often : the tune was in fact better on ST despite its crappy sound hardware compared to Amiga

I was laid up in a hospital bed for weeks with an Atari ST when I was 12. And I would play it until I got utterly sick of it - then after a few hours I'd start playing again because there was nothing else to do. Great game.

Peter Van Apparently according to Bitmap folklore there is a hidden level of the original Xenon locked away in Xenon 2 Megablast...ive had no luck finding it n research has offered no joy.. If anyone has evidence or images of this i will send cassettelord artwork their way.. pop to cassettelord into google images to see me stuff..

It was very hard to make the Atari ST sing, but whoever was responsible for this music was very talented!

The ST's sound chip could sing no problem, just like the same sound chip in the Spectrum and Amstrad.

@@HuntersMoon78 or in the MSX2 as well as in many arcade boards at the time. a great and very iconic sound chip!
