lyiaba mian Its honestly sad. Me and my sister went to visit Las Vegas which was our hometown. We were waiting for the bus and it was at night. We hadn’t been back in a while and we didn’t know how to use public transportation that well so we where talking amongst each other in Spanish wondering if it was the right bus. A white woman herd us speaking in spanish and got offended and told us to stop speaking in Spanish. We didn’t know how to react. I can’t imagine what you’re mom has gone through just as my mom.

@@victoriagonzaga6715 Its the little everyday occurrences. Like this weekend my mom asked someone where the bathroom was at Macy's and she was like "they are out of order." My sister sensed she was just being rude and asked someone else and that person told her right away. I don't believe only white people are racist. I have encountered more black racist people than white in my life. Although there is no doubting white privilage.

@NCT stands for Neo Crackhead Technology I understand what you're saying my friend but just look at what Muslims are doing to other Muslims these days.... Syria, Yemen plus Afghanistan and Iraq from time to time as well as the lack of solidarity when it comes to things like the Uighurs. You must be the change you want to see in the world. Stay blessed always.

It has come to a point where people have decided to expect the worse out of just looking at someone's race which sucks because of all the hard work people have done to change the way people see things in a good way and now everything is just going backwards,, hopefully in the future although by the looks of it we are far from to not blame the whole race and make someone suffer because of something that wasn't even their fault. Y'all be safe !!

The thing that happened with Eric happened with me and my family too... We were 12 people in Paris and this happened at a restaurant. It was really late so there wasn't much options so they agreed to allow us only when we said that we'll pay double the bill. It's so disgusting and horrible that people can be like that

I'm Asian and I've seen plenty racism. Hell, I've seen other American Asians be racist to me too and there was this time I saw a Korean woman at an H-Mart be hella disrespectful to an African American lady. I think all humans have biases which makes them act like this. It's not a good thing, it's just a fact. I really wish it wasn't.

I wish this wasn't happening but it is and that's the reality we live in. For them to go that far and say that their fryer broke is messed up and wrong, all because they didn't want to serve you. It reminds me of how I was treated once at an outing with my friends, I was singled out and they weren't all because of the fact I'm black and there not. It pains me that you had to experience that Eric along with your brothers.

I'm Indian and when I used to live in Georgia a few years back (please don't hate me Eric) I experienced a lot of racism at my school and public places in general. I remember the first day my family and I moved into the neighborhood and our neighbor was out so my dad went up to say hi to him. That man literally told us in the face that he doesn't want to live there anymore bc there are colored people living in the neighborhood now. I know that racism exists in pockets everywhere but I'm so traumatized by some memories that I would do anything to avoid going there again. I just wish that people could be more sensible and not use something of outer appearance to divide us. It's sad when I hear Asian people getting treated badly bc of the virus, which is totally blown out of proportion, and I'm really sorry about the experience you had. I just wish people could be nicer and learn how to respect each other.

Sadly, I was able to relate to your restaurant incident. My friends and I (a group of south asian muslim girls) went to a restaurant and the person at the door said we have to wait while she checks if there are seats. So we were like, cool sure take your time. About 5 minutes later she comes back, and there are a white dad and his daughter waiting behind us. She says, "oh yeah, I need to check more for a table of four but I'll be back so you can just sit on the side." She then took the dad and daughter inside. She told us to sit on the side benchs while she checks so we did since our legs were hurting too since we spent the day walking from place to place. By the time she comes back, there is a group of four white teenagers who are waiting in line. The lady then takes them in *immediately* and doesn't even make eye contact with us. We were also a group of four, who were also waiting before them. Yet, she took them in and kept waiting again. By the third time she got back, my friend got annoyed and asked "so is there a table or not, we've been waiting for a while now and can just go somewhere else if you're going to keep us hanging on a thread." I don't know if she got intimidated or finally decided to be decent but she said there's a spot near the back if we want it. So she took us in and...we could see that there were actually many seats available. Many tables for four, as well as tables for eight and ten people as well. And clearly they didn't just become empty because we didn't see any large groups leaving, and that restaurant also doesn't take reservations too so it's not like those seats were not available. We only saw a couple and a group of three leaving in the time we were waiting. I also hate to play the race card but the lady clearly didn't like us for some reason. It couldn't have been our age since the group of teenagers looked younger than us. Her body language and way of speaking was also vastly different with us versus the white dad and daughter, and group of four. With them she looked welcomingly but with us, it seemed like she found us to be a nuisance and wanted us to leave. Her actions kind of backed that idea...Typically you wouldn't want to make customers wait that long cause you don't want to lose an opportunity to earn money from them...but she left us there almost like she wanted us to leave. It wasn't blatant racism or xenophobia, but it was still hurtful. We just wanted to eat. I hope people can see others as just that: people. Race? I only see one, the human race. I hope one day, everyone can see that too.

whenever im out and about alone i always have my earphones in. i know its dangerous but i call this tactic "blocking out all the stupidity in this world" there was once i was waiting for the tube, a group of dudes walked past me and my music was just about finished and i heard one of them say "coronavirus" idk if it was directed at me or they were just talking about it. i didnt think much of it, but it reminded me why I love to have my earphones in all the time. if they were calling me 'coronavirus', it would have bothered me. but since I had no idea cos i had my earphones in, it didnt bother me as much.

I seriously though we would have come a longer way in 2020. If there is one thing I really cant tolerate, its racism. If I see it, I get pissed and I wont keep my mouth shut. We are all the same on the inside. The only difference is the color of our skin, our culture and religion but other wise we are all human beings. We are all trying to find our place in this big ass world and noone has the right to say we cant do stuff because of who we are. Be proud of who you are and where you come from. Love from Sweden:)

My sister was literally in a small group class and before doing their activity of the day, she told her group that she'd prefer not doing the name list since she's bad at spelling names and she didn't wanna botch them. Then this old yt lady in her group cut her off saying "Oh is it because english is just your second language?" What does that have to do with being bad at spelling? Can't you just be really bad at it, full stop? Lol

I live downtown Toronto, which is like 30% Asian, but starting January I have had so many moments of people saying passive aggressive shit to me, because I would cough in public due to my allergies. I live with PTSD, so on a “normal” day I am afraid of people, but I haven’t been outside my apartment for 3 weeks because of this consuming fear someone will try to hurt me. I can’t even bear to go to the pharmacy to pick up a life changing prescription. I had to call a suicide line today, because I feel so hopeless. Please take care of people around you, especially those vulnerable. Reach out to people who you think might have a harder time dealing with this, be it because of their race, their health condition or their mental state. I really hope we’ll go through this.

In times like these all we can do is spread love and educate people. Is your friend making a racist comment about someone? Tell them it is not ok. Your family shared something xenophobic on social media? Don't spread it. And so on. We may not always be able to change the attitude of those people, but we can do our our part and stand up against what is not right.

I live in Southern Cali and I have never experienced the kind of racism I have over the last month just because people thought I was Asain so automatically that meant I have the virus. It's disgusting and made me almost get violent with people twice. Just because someone is of a certain race doesn't automatically mean they have a disease that might going around their country or not. People's ignorance is insane... But it's just shows how much ignorance people really have about this virus and what's going on.

There's a man who runs a conservative news podcast that's VERY popular (I'm talking, it's in the top 10 podcasts-listened to on iTunes) and the byline this week was "The Chinese Virus" and "... China tries to avoid the consequences of its own evil government." And this is not some small podcast, if you look RIGHT now, it is top 6 under trending podcasts this week, because people go there for republican news. (There's nothing wrong with being conservative or republican, but the undertones and even blatant denotation of this is so crazy and scary.)

Now to clear things up, I know asians mostly respect foreigners so this really threw me off. I was literally just crossing the pedestrian like a normal person and all of a sudden this dude whom i was crossing the road with suddenly started screaming at me in their local language (In which I was fluent btw) saying things like "YOU STINK! YOU'RE SO WHITE! YOU STINK YOU STINK!!" Basically nonsense things just to get to me in front of so many other people and I have to admit it did get to me. I almost started crying after walking away from him but kept a straight face all the while and not making any eye contact. It just sucked. Just realized this is the first time I told this to anyone.

I'm late but it's just so frustrating and annoying how common this type of racism happens. The other day my mom went to the RMV because there was a problem with getting her new driver's license. She told me later that she was treated horribly there. After having her wait for an hour even though she had an appointment, they then refused to listen to her try to explain what had happened, insisted that they knew what was wrong when they clearly didn't, tried to make her pay an extra fee when she already said that she had paid it and had the documents to prove it, yelled at her for "raising her voice" when she was just trying to advocate for herself, and then made her stand on the side and wait with a security guard with her as they called a supervisor. Like I wasn't there myself but I'm pretty sure it was a race thing. (btw my mom is chinese and has a slight accent). It's literally so rude and humiliating that my mom had to go through that.

You feel the stares, you hear the comments, your race is targeted and it feels like no one is helping. And you realize when things go wrong and you are there, it's your fault. Racism in 2020... I don't understand why rasicm is still a thing in 2020. I mean- Grow up peeps, everyone should respect each other. A world without rasicm is almost impossible... But I wish it could happen on some way..

If you see this kind of xenophobia please don’t hesitate to call it out and be an ally to people who are being ridiculed. The world has no place for racism anymore and everyone needs to stand up to it!

Eric I am so very sorry that this happened to you and your crew and believe me when I say this is very serious and I'm not trying to minimalize your situation.....but as a woman of color I identify with this kind of treatment and racism on a regular so I MOST definitely understand where you are coming from...and again I am very sorry.

It's okay! If they won't give you fried chicken, then I'll make you fried chicken! You're amazing and no one can take that away from you! It's at their own loss that they didn't have the honor to serve you! Stay strong! We can do this together!

I kind of wish you delved deeper into this, because of the situation at foot. This would be something that needs to be longer, to explain how harmful these things can be, not even from just an asian stand point, but from a minority stand point as well.

It makes me so angry that people are treated like that. I'm sorry this happens to so many and it shouldn't happen at all, ever. If I owned a business, I wouldn't care of you were pink and purple, a paying customer is a paying customer and should be treated with respect and courtesy.

I'm so sorry to the people that are treating Asians bad. And I'm also sad for our POC who have equally had mass amounts of Asians come out the woodworks and say massively ignorant shit because of the few bad apples that have shown their ass. Been seeing it on both spectrums.

I'm asian and live in a south-asian country but in the country itself we are discriminated most of the people are brown and there's a small group of people who has mongolian features and are often categorised as chinese even tho we are from the same country but what happened was a brown guy spat on a girl calling here corona and saying go back to your country like what the hell this is my country just because we look like chinese doesnt mean we have covid-19 or we are not the same nationality and two girls who went for grocery shopping werent allowed to go inside ..we are almost always discriminated these people's mindset needs to be changed Just because you're asian doesnt mean you have to discriminate them

It’s really awful that racism is still a big thing even at this point in the 21st-century. I know it’s really bad and this should not be happening anymore it’s just ridiculous. I’m sad to say without really realising it my stepdad is racist but not quite in the ways that you would describe or whatever. But anyway Eric Eddie Brian we love you all and I myself I like to say that I try my best to love everyone in the world at the end of the day God said love thy neighbour.

I'm not Asian, but I honestly hate when people do this to others because my parents make snide comments about EVERYBODY(I'm 17 and my parents were born in the late 50's early 60's). It doesn't always matter to them because it's as long as they do it to people on tv and that they met, but talk about those people later it doesn't hurt those people. It pisses me off and I can't tell them that I view them as being racist because I know I will get my ass beat if I say it. It just frustrates me whenever I see my parents or other people do this because I don't see the point in doing it, they are people just like us, so why treat them like they aren't?

Definitely bullshit if he's saying they only employ friars to fry the food. But seriously, this is horrible, and I'm so sorry you have to deal with the heightened level of xenophobia and racism. I can't imagine having to deal with the stress of the virus plus stress of having to watch out for racist attacks. I hope you guys are able to take care of yourselves.
