The most helpful video that I’ve seen so far (and so much easier to understand now that I found the English version. I left a message with the manufacturer a few days ago, no response 😕. Coral Vue was supposed to be distracting these units and have them available by year end 2019. They no longer have any information on their website. I would like to buy one of these but am worried about sketchy support and software improvements. Has there been any new developments with the app? Second question, how would one tell the difference between the older units and the latest product? I am able to find a few of these new, but I don’t know if they are New Old Stock or if they are the latest version. Again thanks for an informative video.

Hi Mark. It can work with other 2 or 3 part systems. You will just have to dillute the alk part in 2 parts of rodi water because the xepta balling doses a triple amount of the alk part when compared to the calcium or traces parts.

O equipamento é mesmo muito bom para quem o usa como única fonte de doseamento. No meu caso como combino o Autobalance com um reactor de cálcio e kalkwasser, requer mais vigilância.

My only complaints are that the app is ugly and that I need to tap 3 times to check the history. What I mean is that I'm very happy with how it's performing now.

Olá Alfredo, belo vídeo. Que tal a experiência até agora? (esteja à vontade para responder em Inglés se isso beneficia a audiência do canal). Actualmente utilizo o KH Director (GHL) juntamente com o Profilux4 e não posso dizer que esteja demasiado contente. Os resultados não me parecem consistentes e a ligação WiFi não funciona 90% das vezes!!! Estou a ponto de vender tudo e mudar para APEX. Relativamente ao ABEX, está a utilizar o balling deles ou outro? Imagino que ele só regula a dosagem se se utilizar o Balling da XEPTA. E já agora qual o custo dos reagentes e quanto dura num regime de 4 testes por dia?

Boas Vasco. A experiência não é perfeita, mas é boa. A Xepta tem uma lista de pequenas correcções e upgrades para sair na app e no firmware e se conseguirem fazer tudo o que se propoem, 5 estrelas. Tenho estado a confirmar os resultados com um teste da salifert e não tenho notado desvios. Estou no grupo de whatsapp de apoio da Xepta e as queixas do pessoal têm sido com a app para IOS e algum pessoal que tem problemas quando coloca mais dosificações do que testes. Estou a usar o Balling da Xepta mas não posso dizer se é bom ou mau, porque só o estou a usar para pequenas correcções (uso um reactor de cálcio e kalkwasser). 1 litro de reagente dá para uns 300 testes (a kh por volta de 8). Deve dar para 2 meses e meio a 4 testes por dia. Comprei 5 litros porque custa 40 e poucos euros.

@@LightSearch Obrigado pela resposta Alfredo. Eu julgo que fazer mais dosificasses do que testes tem sempre o problema de que todas as doses seguintes ao teste vão ser ajustadas na mesma medida, e isso pode causar sobre correcções constantes. No KH director o que fiz foi dividir a correcção total pelo número de dosagens entre testes, para que a correcção total só aconteça ao final dessas 4 (por exemplo) dosagens. Mas mesmo assim a coisa não funciona muito bem e acabo por ter maior estabilidade sem fazer correcções nenhumas automáticas. Relativamente à ligação wifi que tal funciona? No caso das minhas doseadoras e Profilux 4 da GHL a falta de estabilidade da ligação chega a ser quase anedótica, não estando a exagerar se disser que 80% do tempo estou sem acesso. Outra pergunta: o XEPTA faz notificações sempre que faz um teste ou apenas sabemos os níveis entrando na app e rezando para que esteja online nesse momento (especialmente se se está fora, que é quando é mais importante ser avisado de que alguma coisa não está bem).

@@vascojardim6703 Na próxima actualização as dosificações vão levar em conta o histórico de consumo do aquário em vez de estar só dependente do último teste. Mas mesmo como está, funciona bem. Ainda não manda notificações e apesar de estar na lista de funcionalidades que vão adicionar, não vai ser na próxima. No que respeita ao wifi, só tenho problemas quando há falhas de luz, mas parece que sou só eu. O Autobalance continua a trabalhar normalmente quando a luz volta, mas para usar a app, tenho que reiniciar o Autobalance. Se eu quiser usar outro balling sem ser o da Xepta, só tenho que diluir a componente de KH em 2 partes de água de osmose e acertar na app o volume do aquário se for necessário. Já falaste com o apoio da GHL sobre esses problemas que estása ter?

Alfredo Reis Deus Obrigado mais uma vez. Já falei varias vezes ao longo dos anos... é uma experiência algo frustrante. A não ser que o proprio Matthias Gross responda. Confesso que me parece que a aura de fiabilidade que há à volta da GHL não é merecida. E o interface com o utilizador é de uma pessoa acabar em terapia de anger management!!! Qualquer aimples update de firmware faz uma pessoa tremer de receio! Acaba sempre por dar mal e outra vez nos foruns à procura de ajuda (reef2reef) onde há algumas almas caridosas e com muita paciência que se esforçam por ajudar... enfim

@@vascojardim6703 Eu não vou fazer update de nada enquanto não vir o feedback de outro pessoal durante uma semana. Houve uma altura em que apanhei um susto valente. De manhã consultei a app e o Autobalance estava a repetir testes sem parar havia umas 3 horas. Comecei a imaginar a quantidade de ácido que tinha sido despejada no aquário. O problema fui eu que sem querer movi o frasco do reagente e o tubo ficou demasiado alto para sugar o reagente. Vá lá que não ficou a deitar reagente durante 3 horas.. Eles avisaram-me que no próximo update isso não vai acontecer.

I live in the USA and am thinking of getting this, do you foresee and problems using this in my country? I have to order it from a different country since it is not available here

I wouldn't get it from another country because you would have problems with getting supplies/support.

@@truereefkeeping6022 Xepta has always been great with support but it would make things a bit harder. On a positive note, they have concentrated reagent available which you dilute with rodi water. I think I have enough reagent for 3 years. Their balling also comes in 100 litre packs!

And as far as I know all I need is 0.1 N acid like the alkatronic and kh keeper uses so I shouldn’t have any issues getting reagent, I have a calcium reactor and just need the Xepta to keep track of my kh so I know my calcium reactor is tuned, do you think the Xepta would be good for this? I was using the GHL kh director but it leaked and fried itself and now I’m looking for one that doesn’t have any leaking problems, the Xepta seems well built and inexpensive

@@truereefkeeping6022 It's what I'm doing. I dose all the saturated kalk I can based on evaporation. Then it's the calcium reactor to meet 95% of the alk demand. Then it's the Xepta. I test 4 times per day and sometimes it doses, sometimes it doesn't based on the tests. Recently I began dosing sodium hydroxide to bring pH up.

Did you notice slightly high readings when first setting up the autobalance? It's saying my dkh is 9.03 but my hanna checker says 8.5

As with any pumps, I think it needs a few weeks to stabilize. I would callibrate the Water In pump once per week during the first 2 months.

How do I change language settings? Does it come automatically I Spanish or is there a way to Change it during set up? I am waiting for mine to get here and it’s from a country that is not English, so I am wondering how the language settings work

Hi, cool review! Newbies question: why tap instead of osmose water when calibrating pH probe..? Always did with RO water up to now.. :-o

I asked about it to Xepta's support and they said that the RO water breaks the membrane of the probe and that it should be rinsed in tap water instead.

Have they updated the firmware yet? Tempted to get one but ifs still got a major flaw/s that hasn't been fixed after this long I'm not too sure lol

I installed the latest firmware update a week ago, it had minor changes to the dosing algorithm, I think. The equipment is solid, the software still needs improvement. It works and the flaws are more of the annoying type than anything serious and are mostly related to the scheduling of the analysis. It's impossible to schedule analysis at a specific time and 2 or 3 times per month it does an analysis completely out of schedule. Sometimes there's a result completely out of whack (maybe due to air in the tubes?) but it detects it and redoes it, and it's always been safe from that regard. I wouldn't want to run my tank without it or something else that performed the same task. No regrets.

I think the product isn't ready yet for large markets, they still need to make it more stable.

@@andycx2 I use the equipment mainly for monitoring kh, I wouldn't be comfortable using it to dose. If it misses or messes up a test it's not a problem, now if it messes up the dosing that's a big problem.

I have been meaning to do an update, but to sum it up, I stand by what I said here: it does the job but it's not perfect. The good thing is that the equipment is fine, it's just the firmware and app that need some improvements. At this point I am happy with how it's been working, because it's not the main supply of dosing to the tank. Would I trust it if it was the main supply of alk to the tank? No. Not yet.
