I only clicked on this to laugh at the xfl. How is this in my feed? My apologies to those playing in the league. I can only hope you are not being exploited, but I strongly suspect you are. This will only be legitimate if the nfl adopts a relegation promotion model, like the european soccer leagues. Of course, we all know that will never happen, because america is not a merit based society - "monopoly" winners never give ground.

I disagree. This leagues success is based upon the owners grit and commitment for the long haul. If they decide to fight the set-backs, and like the idea of competing, working long hours to take up the slack until they get their footing, then expect this league to be here in 6 years.

Battlehawks fan here. The league is not looking to compete with the NFL, it's looking to establish the U.S. market for spring league football. In terms of fans, it has; in terms of broadcasting and advertisements, it definitely hasn't; and in terms of players, coaches, and officials, it's a toss-up against the USFL. Promotion and relegation is one of two systems likely to be adopted by the league in the future, the other being as a tester league to experiment with new rules before the NFL adopts them. The legitimacy of the league is not compromised by its somewhat limited success to this point, as right now it's going through the startup phases any new company does in its first few years. For fans, it's legitimate. For players who couldn't quite make it in the NFL, it's legitimate.
