How do you turn on normal primal mode, it never works when I press L or X depending on the weapon

you have to imbue the weapon first, then press x on pc and it should go to primal it usually doesn't have any special effect to indicate if primal is on or not so you might have to attack to know wther or not primal mode is on

There is also a feint audio cue when you switch, but you can more easily tell by your swings. Regular swings sound metalic like weapons, while primal swings make sounds based on the imbument element

@ there’s a button when you equip overwrite that just says “X-Event”, if it’s not on cooldown it summons it
