I've found that I really love the Graptoveria species so much! Beautiful pastel like colours that come from their leaves. Thank you for educating me on this plant even more 😁

Oh, I must look fo this one. This might work in my garden where thankfully it rarely reaches 40c. Im always looking for tough garden succulents tolerating full sun in z9. Tkx Kat.

Kat How can you tell the soil in the pot is dried out completely? Is it by lifting the pot when there is no place to stick a moisture meter? coz the surface may seem dry however not the case for the bottom of the pot. The reason I asked is because you are the Succulent whisperer ,who knows the need of thousands of her beautiful babies.🤗🙏 Thank you Kat for all your time and efforts.

TY- you're too kind ❤I kind of just guess but, more often than not, if you have a bit of a feel with your finger and move the potting mix on top around and, it is dry there's a good chance the whole pot is dry. There's no harm giving them an extra few days without water, if you think the bottom may still have some water. But, imo, as long as the potting mix is well draining and not soggy, watering will not hurt the plant even if there's a bit of moisture left at the bottom. I'll see if i can make a video about this! 🙂

Thank you Kat for all your time and efforts. This is where we understand the value /brains behind soil engineering and the testing done on it.🙏👍

Hi Kat, great video , always plenty of tips, thanks. I’m in Brisbane and have lots of success with these plants. I’m starting to add coarse sand to my potting mix for drainage. Just wandering your thoughts on that , thanks .

That is great- so glad they grow well for you 🙂 Coarse sand can be a good addition for a humid climate but i'd suggest to keep an eye once you start getting those summer temperatures and there's no rain. It can get dry super fast and smaller/ thinner leaved plants may need a bit of extra water. It will be interesting to see what this summer brings- it's already so hot 🥵

I found over six or more months the sand settles at the bottom of the pot and becomes hard and hydrophobic. Solution, use Seasol soil wetter once a month. Don’t use in clay pots. I suggest decomposed granite from Bunnings or just a bit of perlite 🪷
