XH-M189 and XH-M422 Digital Amplifier Review

Thanks for your extensive review. I always wondered how these cheap amplifiers would sound in the real world. I would indeed go for the 'blue' board, but only if I do not find another board where they have taken away any anouncements. What is the added value of saying 'Music !' and then play music. And even worse, what is the added value of the Beeps when changing the volume. It is absolutely distroying the user experience. The only acceptable way this module can be used is where the volume is up 100% in combination with the Bluetooth from a telephone or pc to play music. The moment they overwrite the sound-clips with zeros this module is 4 times more interesting to buy. Another way to connect this blue board via a cable would be an improvement, by integrating a DAC onto the USB, so it is seen as a soundcard from a PC. The red one indeed is usable as a replacement in an old system, with less requirements in combination with some retro equipment. Although not perfect in sound still usable in some application. I cannot help to like the 3.5 mm jack, due to its universality.

Yes, the "Music" could have been "USB drive" or "Memory card" or something similar. The volume beep does not bother me much. Maybe it could be turned off when the music is playing, but when the music is paused at least it gives some feedback. But you are right, for bluetooth it will probably not used much, but required for the USB/CR card support. Overall, I am happy with these modules. It is amazing how cheap and relatively good quality stuff you can buy nowadays. I mean it would probably not have been possible to buy a good amp for a tenner 10-15 years ago.

The cheap chineese bluetooth speakers are also ruined by this insane idea to announce every mode change with max volume and a crappy accent. Creators never went to design school.

Your already on the product page "Tested by ICStation's Outstanding Partner Csongor Varga"... Perhaps the red amp sounds better with 4 ohm speakers as the output stage filters has higher component values. What kind of micro is on the blue amp?
