XHaven Assistant: Frosthaven and Gloomhaven made easier

Setup is simpler as it takes away the need for a lot of the bits you would have on the table. That said, finding monsters and setting up the table can still take a bit of time.

So everybody is tracking. In order to choose the different games, when you set scenario you can select the game you want to play (ie. Gloomhaven, Frosthaven and all version of the game). Also network setting you can have one app be the server ie. a tablet on the table and then have everybody connect to it on their cell phones and everybody can keep track of everything together. What's nice about it is it'll ?? initiatives to keep it hidden and when it's resolved it'll show. The app is super nice.

We used the original helper app with our GH campaigns and have been using x-haven for our Frosthaven campaign. It saves so much table space, setup time, and fiddling around with damage markers on tiny slots on the enemy sleeves. Basically it takes away a lot of the misery that reduces the game's accessibility. I wouldn't play these games without the apps personally because we've tried it a couple times and it's kind of miserable lol.

I agree, knowing now of the app, and having used it I too would not play without it. That said if I had not found the app I would still play... I would just plan to take longer. Glad though that I did find it.

This is a great app. One thing I haven't figured out: when you draw the monster modifier cards and it comes up Null or 2X, it is supposed to reshuffle after that. For some reason, mine is not reshuffling after those cards get drawn. Is there a setting or something I need to do to enable that to happen?

Reshuffle does not occur until the end of the round.

Thank you so much for the video! Super helpful. I do have one question… when you click on a character to change their health, XP, status effect, etc… do you know what the blue diamond icon below the HP and XP icons is? I can’t recall having seen that icon before in my time playing Gloomhaven.

Well, to be honest I don't know. I did some checking in the rules and the icon reference and that icon does not appear. It seems to be some kind of stackable status effect but which I cannot say.

Hello ActiveMindsGamer. Normally, a solo player must adjust the monster level by +1 to compensate the fact that the player knows precisely all cards he will use for the different class he manipulates (page 69 of the rulebook). If chars are level 1 or level 2, ''normal'' difficulty scenario for several different human players is 1. They can adjust the difficulty of the scenario by removing 1 (easy mode) or adding +1 (hard mode) or even +2(very hard mode). As a result, with chars level 1 (or lvl 2), monsters level may vary between 0 and 3. If you play solo and if your chars are lvl 1/2, normal'' difficulty monsters should have lvl 2...and lvl 3 for hard difficulty and lvl 4 for very hard difficulty. I think you imagine very well damage done by lvl 4 elite algox archer in the first scenario. That being said, the check box ''solo'' is maybe used to tell the apps that you are a single player. In this case, the suggested monster level is 2 instead of 1.

Yes they have a solo player formula in the rules. It turns out that in the average you are about 1/2 level per scenario ahead of non solo. But rounding makes that a full level most of the time.

@@activemindsgamer I wish i could follow your videos more often but i don't want to spoil the game. How do you feel with Adrian and Royce ? Better than the beginning ? You had movement problems during your inter mission review one month ago.

@@horizononegloomhaven5417 I fully get that, probably why I have a twindling number of viewers the further I get. :-) Maybe I will go do a couple of optional quests I didn't do before coming out here. ...Biggest issue is that a LOT of folks have not even got their copy yet. Well Adrian and Royce are doing better but Adrians movement issues are still kind of a pain but if I make sure to keep her 4 move actions in my deck it helps to get her into the fray once she is ready to.

@@horizononegloomhaven5417 I have only been adding my scenario count (the number I have completed plus one) and the name of the scenario to lessen the spoileriness. I figure you won't know the name until you are already doing it so you don't really know what's coming .

How does this compare to gloomhaven helper app? Do I need both?

I have never used the GH app but cannot imagine it being much better if at all than this one. Only one feature I can think of that it is missing... Reset scenario, for those times when you lose and want to try again but don't want to reenter all the monsters , but this is a nitpick as it really does make that pretty easy too.
