The 9700 DX is a jewel .....It is a Giant in Sensitivity .... Never Ever Judge it by Placing in the Middle Of Electrical and RF Noises ...it is That Sensitive people will Easily Underestimate it's Capabilities..... Never Connect any Kind of External Antenna ,this can even Change its Calibration on the Scale ...Go to a Noiseless Place and Play with it ...You will get into the Shangri-la Of DXing Experience ...No Portable Can Beat it's Sound Quality ...It is a Portable Giant... Table top Radio Receiver !!!

I second the recommendation not use an external antenna on this radio. While it can help pull in weaker stations it has the undesirable side effect of introducing spurious signals all over the bands. One real negative of an otherwise excellent radio.

I tried three different external antennas and found that the r-9700DX is a joy in a low RFI environment off the whip. With an external antenna, WWV and other strong stations can be found all over. The Grundig S750 really comes alive on an external antenna. I do wish the r-9700DX had better circuitry for handling an external antenna like the Grundig S750.

It comes with a wire external antenna and a jack for attaching a wire antenna. Why would this be bad for this radio? I have one of these in order and I have a long wire as well as MLA 30 loop antenna that I am hoping to use !

a small magnet slid across the seam on the top of the radio can greatly enhance sensitivity of the R-9700.

I will try that. Would that be the case with most portable radios?

How does the band switch hold up?
@LeeLocke7 жыл бұрын
I agree with you B. Not much innit apart from the obvious filtering on the 808. Thank you for doing this comparison. Thumbs up, 73's Lee.

Sensitivity of 9700DX is not bad and its sound is good for me. It's regrettable that it has no bandwidth filter selection. Thanks and 73s! :)

Yes, I agree, but the one I have has two switches on the left side that alter the bass and treble. I think that makes a difference sometimes. I have the Kchibo model in silver. Good talking to you, be well, 73's Lee (",)

I think both radios are good performers! Plus I like the layout of Tecsun R-9700DX. I own one too and I have tested it on MW only! What is your opinion on its MW capabilities?! 73!

Sensitivity on MW is not bad for me. How about you? Thanks & 73s! :)

bcloyaji Thank you very much! I will try to upload some videos with my Tecsun R-9700DX as well. So far so good for me, too! Though I am not sure how capable it is when it comes to selectivity...I have a strong 558 kHz nearby that blocks anything on 549 or 567...too bad!:( 73!

Cool radios! I have these two radios. I am having a problem tuning my tecsun r-9700DX. I do no know if using an ac adapter affects it or it is better to use batteries?

Try to minimize power line noises by using batteries.
