In this particular work Abstraktes Bild (607-2) by Richter, we see the most classic colours used in Richter’s abstracting paintings during this period in sharp red, yellow, green and blue. The canvas is covered with a broad sweep of oil paint, which is stacked in layers with striking fissured brushstrokes that branch out from the bottom of the painting which is accompanied by scratched lines of bright yellow juxtaposing with the darker tones. Abstraktes Bild (607-2) is a rare work that fully integrates all the techniques of abstract painting, including traditional brushstrokes, scratch lines and the squeegee method, and we are thrilled to be presenting this masterpiece to you in Hong Kong.
