我開始睇波前輩已經踢愉園,佢係我最鍾情既香港球星,因為我覺得用腦比用腳踢波更襟踢今日先知原來愉園年代已經唔係仁哥既最高水平,有D覺得自己生不逢時。

仁仔就是我們成長的一代，他當年在元朗夏令杯比賽，我也是座上客，當時還記得有一位守門員張耀東，有新彈弓人之稱。

lee albert 在70年代，每逢暑假在球季結束時，在港九新界舉行的比賽，比賽日期，賽制各區都不大相同，元朗區的是11人90分鐘，分組單循環，入到次圈採什麼賽制我已記不清，但每季賽事都打交，已十多年已沒有舉辦。

If you really wanted to blame the demise of Hong Kong's Professional Football, then there were obvious and subtle ones as well: 1. Hong Kong Government cancelled Football as a development sport in the late 1980s. Prior, the Hong Kong developmental football program was operated by the HKFA and supported by the Government. Therefore the youth program from the Under 11's all the way to the Under 14 years old were trained at various grounds. Then the selected Under 15 's team all the way to the Under 19's would be trained exclusively at Shatin's Silver Anniversary Sports Schools where they often playing world ranked youth tournaments globally. Also all of them were groomed to playing professionals in Hong Kong and elsewhere. Being coached by highly skilled ex-Hong Kong team members like Kwok Ka Ming and Lai Sun Cheung. Since they were being skilled trainees for their football apprenticeship, they were also being paid comfortably. This eased their worries as they could solely concentrating on only football. 2. Before the 1980s, life in general was quite simple. There were very little form of entertainment. You had only 2 basic channels in TVB and ATV, or listening to popular music from your stereo, radio programs at home. If you were wealthy, then going to Orchestra, exclusive and private clubs were the options. Video Arcades for the young ones, could be cheap or expensive. Some would literally skipping meals and spending the money there instead. For most, they were either going to the Cinemas (where they charge for various locations for the better seating) and watching local football (either held at Hong Kong or Mong Kok Stadium). Often they would had 'double billing', which meant for the price of one ticket, you could watch two back-to-back matches. Other than the World Cup since 1978, global matches were not live feed by satellites. All were taped delayed for at least a week. Hence football were popular mostly by radio through RTHK broadcasts. Most working people in restaurants to taxi drivers could listen to the excitement of the game. Often in the big matches, Hong Kong stadium raised the 'Red Flag' signaled that 28,000 plus capacity was sold out. 3. Clubs were richer at the time and big money sponsors could afford much better players. In fact, quite a few of the World Cup teams played in Hong Kong right at or just after their prime. Many Internationals from England, Scotland, Holland and others once played for storied Hong Kong clubs such as Seiko, Bulova, Eastern, Happy Valley and South China. Stars like Cyruff, Alan Ball and even Sir Bobby Robson either played or managed during the glory days. As well, beside regular league matches. There were other trophies such as the Silver Shield, the FA Cup and the Viceroy Cup (President Cup) where the cigarette maker awarded the each winning team members close to six months of their average wage. The players on average not only earned upper middle class incomes but also could be self-sufficient once they retired from the sport. Also the local players were technically sound and could easily matching the skilled import players. Wu Kwok Hung, the legendary captain of the famous Seiko team, won the Best Player of the Year 4 times consecutively. Many of the International invitational friendlies such as the New York Cosmos (featuring Beckenbauer and the stars), Boca Junior (with Maradona), Liverpool, Man United and so on were simply amazing. Now, there are just more choice of entertainments. Global feed ensured that best games in the world are broadcasting live as well with live online betting, or even doing so at the legalized local betting stations. As well, lack of basic training facilities meant that even youth clubs are scrambled to find suitable locations often with varied times. Without government's support, often this falls on the professional clubs. They are only interested in preserving their performances with the professionals and rightly so. With the decreasing salaries, lack of future employment securities and virtually no health insurances. Many chose to work outside of football instead to have a steady income. That was why it was inevitable that Hong Kong's local football had long lost its glory. Besides, sponsorship sometimes dictates the operation of the team itself. Therefore, illegal betting and players caught taking bribes with the purpose of throwing games for the syndicates are now even more common than before. It is not hard to imagine to do so earning a couple months of pay doing it one time. As a result, about 1,000 on average now showing up at the Hong Kong Premier League per game. It got so bad that HKFA allowed a developmental team from one of the Chinese Super League (R&F) to compete. Most teams do not have enough local players skilled or physically fit often for the entire match. A lot of imported players are often over aged, or coming from lower leagues globally where they have to work a second job to supplement their meagre incomes. When you have stories like South China (finishing fourth in 2017) and Yuen Long (just finished fifth this year) did the unthinkable by 'self-relegating' to the lower leagues. This becomes more than a joke and professional football in Hong Kong is pretty much dead, which was quite sad given that once upon a time, Hong Kong was a powerhouse in South East Asia.

HK was top in 1950's. North Korea was best in 1960's, HK was second in the 1960's. By 1970's South Korea had improved to the top tier. In Nov/Dec 1973 South Korea Vs Australia in HK Stadium, it was a qualifying playoff game of the World Cup 1974. The game was henceforth held in neutral location. South Korea lost 0-1 in extra time. So Australia advanced and played in West Germany, World Cup 1974.
