To destroy a big city, it doesn't have to be the sky Disasters can also be man-made disasters. Man-made disasters are not necessarily wars. A few words and ignorant actions of a few people can completely kill a big city.

Why do you think you would need the help of foreign countries, when you don't agree with some polices of your motherland? Do you really think it is your motherland, to which you belong and need to find ways to cooperate just like family members. Personally, I think it is this mentality of resorting to foreign help that makes the reconciliation impossible, which is bad for both Chinese central government and Hongkong people.

The host keeps asserting ideas, opinions and even predictions to the interviewee and wishes to see she would back down and become submissive. that is full of ridiculous interview, the man Stephen Sackur obviously has bias on question to Ms. Ip. All countries have national security law to protect themselves from other unfriendly act or even seditious behavior, why Hong Kong has this law is a problem? I live in Hong Kong over 50 years, I was sorry to refuse Regina proposed the act of 23 according to basic law in 2002, if the act of 23 has been setup that time then I believe Hong Kong would not have serious offensive problem and damage in 2019, the year apparently has intervention from US and UK.
Unfortunately this host seemed very superficial on nationalsecurity laws in the world in general, the privileges and responsibilities of Democracy, China, US, Aukus, ups and downs in economies....! He's a day to day public layman who is easily swayed by one sided info. BBC and any station, large and small, cannot afford such a low Calibre anchor! A Channel can only earn more following by hiring broadcasters who prepare comprehensively and produce quality shows and not just superficial shows to please the already biased minority readers!
Thanks to the smart interviewer Mr. Sackur. He did not have to put on any argument at all to the truly obvious & shameless lies of Regina Ip Lau Suk-yee (葉劉淑儀, HK-born 24 August 1950; husband Sammy Ip Man-ho m.1981 - 1997). She is a Communist china politician. Mr. Sackur's questions cleverly made her exposed herself through the answers she provided. It was so very obvious she was lying through her teeth!!!!
Don’t forget China’s economy was poor in the 80’s, however they have done well since then. China not only improved life of her people but financially they are doing better if not great. Please accept the new kid on the block coming out to compete within the open arena of the world. China has her own rules on how to compete against other countries - that’s “we prospect together”. Certainly HK being a major financial hub, China, like the investment corporations of other countries, can too make used of HK’s international standing.
@Failures_epic11 ай бұрын
Well china has been using the advantages that Hong Kong have to grow but the development of Hong Kong actually stopped since "reunion" China. I guess Hong Kong could rule itself better without China. If China is really that great, why many people decided to leave when Hong Kong is going back to China's hug.
The Hong Kong government is pressing ahead with Article 23, and in a turn that caught me off guard, they've brought up "one country, two systems" while announcing their plans. Despite the negative overtones peppered throughout Article 23's draft, they're referencing a principle that should, in theory, ensure autonomy and protection for our way of life. We understand Hong Kong is seen as just a small cog in a much larger machine from Beijing's perspective. For its survival, the local government seems cornered into a path with limited choices. In this moment of crisis, there lies a hidden chance. The government has openly declared a period for consultation, so it's our duty to engage and voice our concerns. I know it's scary for those in Hong Kong to speak out, but for the lucky ones who've found freedom abroad, it's time to band together. In these trying times, our collective voice becomes our strength. The government's invitation for consultation is a crucial opportunity, not just for us to express our concerns, but to remind those in power of the mutual benefits of steadfastly upholding the "one country, two systems" principle. This foundational document doesn't only shield the freedoms of Hong Kong citizens; it also extends its protection to those often perceived as 'minor officials' within the government's hierarchy. Advocating for this principle is more than a defense of our current rights; it's a strategic move to secure a safer and more stable future for all - a future where the interests and safety of both the governed and the governors are preserved. As such, those of us who have found new skies abroad bear a special responsibility to urge the Hong Kong government to sincerely commit to this principle, which is integral to our collective well-being and enshrined in the pivotal agreements made at the United Nations. In Hong Kong, the "One Country, Two Systems" policy kicked off on July 1, 1997, when Hong Kong returned to China from British rule, becoming a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China. This unique policy was designed to allow Hong Kong to maintain its capitalist system and way of life under the principle of "one country, two systems" for 50 years, until 2047, all while being a part of the sovereign state of China. At the heart of the "One Country, Two Systems" approach is the promise that Hong Kong enjoys a high degree of autonomy, including in administrative management, legislation, and judiciary matters, except for defense and foreign affairs which are managed by the central government. This means that Hong Kong gets to keep its legal system, lifestyle, economic system, and currency (the Hong Kong Dollar) intact, while China handles its defense and foreign affairs. The essence of this policy is to ensure Hong Kong's stability and prosperity, protecting the rights and freedoms of its residents while respecting the region's existing social systems and ways of life. The policy also applies to Macau, another SAR, which returned to China from Portugal on December 20, 1999, under the same principle. I'm reaching out because there's something super important that needs our attention, and it can't wait. It's about digging deep into the public documents of Article 23 legislation. We need to be like detectives here, examining every single detail with a magnifying glass and microscope to spot any hidden traps that could threaten our rights, our way of life, and the promise that things would stay the same for 50 years in Hong Kong. I'm asking, practically begging, for us, the people of Hong Kong, to push the government hard. We need them to lay out, clearly and in detail, how Article 23 will protect our rights and freedoms, especially when it comes to freedom of speech. It's crucial they outline exactly how they'll handle it and ensure there's no room for what's known as 'thought crimes'-locking people up just because of what they might be thinking or suspecting them without just cause. That's a big no-no, against human rights, and it needs to be declared illegal, straight up. Hong Kong's always been about the principle that the benefit of the doubt goes to the defendant, right? That's why it's essential we stand firm and demand the government to spell out the jury's role in this legislation and make sure we all have the freedom to hire any lawyer from anywhere in the world to defend us. These demands are non-negotiable for protecting our civil liberties and preventing any possible human rights abuses. So, let's band together and fight for what's right. Hong Kong, let's do this for justice. Stay strong and keep pushing forward. www.sb.gov.hk/chi/bl23/doc/Consultation%20Paper_TC.pdf #CIA, #MI6, #CSIS, #ASIS, #DGSE, #RAW, #BND, #SVR, #Mossad, #SUPO,#ABC, #BBC, #CBC, #globeandmail, #Toronto_Sun, #TorontoStar, #Citynews, #TheProvince, #The_Guardian
