The Xperia "actually" shows the potential of the sensor. What it shows is what you "should" normally get from the sensor. Problem is everyone else is producing results relying on more than what the sensor is capable, using multiple exposures and software tricks. On the Xperia you can force the phone to do a bit more selecting a few options, but it's not automatic and is more limited than the average.

said this before and ill say it again, phones from........2018 and onwards take great pictures, its only lowlight thats different, AND NO! having a phone make a night scene so overly bright does not make the phone good at lowlight, i took a pictutre on my 1v in my front garden at night and with or without the night mode kicking in, i hated the way how they looked, so i went manual and liked them 100x better

If I want a quick point-and-shoot photo with Instagram-grade photo quality, it's an easy Xiaomi for me. I'm more into true-to-life realistic photo processing, so the Xperia wins me all the way. Even the variable zoom telephoto camera exceeds my expectations despite its rather small camera sensor. Also, the Xperia still has the still-relevant 3.5mm audio jack and microSD card slot. They always remain relevant through times and they never ever go outdated.

Reason to go with either is the camera button, 3.5 jack, but especially the removable sd card. That you can sync it with your alpha camera another bonus.

I mentioned it a lot with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra (especially when I compared the Xiaomi 14 vs iPhone 16, I could have just forgotten to talk about it in this video.) Xiaomi with Leica collaboration has great colors. It understands the scene, and what it shoots, it just understands the colors. So compared to other phones it just seems to be the best for accurate colour. Sony on the other hand seems to be a little bit to washed up in the photos (as if it was desaturated compared to what You see in real life) There is lots to love on the Xperia (like You mentioned - the button, 3.5 jack etc.) But I prefer the photos from the Xiaomi. Sony has a lot of potential, and I just expect way more from them. If I want to take fully manual photos and edit them on my laptop - well I have the full frame Sony A7 IV for that.

Great Comparison Now I have Xperia 5V which I got some Months ago and Very Happy with it, for the Record I was choosing between The 5V and Xiaomi14 when I got it but chose the 5V. So I don't Fully agree with the comment that the 14 Ultra has the Better Overall Performance especially on Vibrant Mode since I am a big Fan of Naturally Looking Shots. So from the Samples provided in this video I think they Are Very Competitive indeed!

I don't understand Sony At all the other phone use Sony lens and a better picture.. but Sony is not all that good as the other phone Sony needs to really step up the pace I just think they need to be more serious about camera phones .. I am going to say this, I remember when Nothing phone had abysmal processing and shot horrible pictures, over time, they improved so much, that they are pretty much in the top when it comes to nightmode, I've seen some ridicolously good night mode shots from Nothing phones.

I have the X14 Ultra and the SONY Xperia 1-IV, while the Xiaomi uses SONY's better hardware and has better processing on auto, I prefer shooting in RAW and love SONY's camera controls, so I do wish that either Xiaomi adds a more "professional" camera app or that SONY uses their better sensors.

@@Lyraxhaze in that case, Xiaomi still did a better job than Sony. Leica authentic is much more muted and "natural". Sony just lacks color, and doesn't look natural at all, as if someone edited them to be more desaturated. If we are talking about RAWs from Sony... Well You could as well take RAWs on Xiaomi and edit them the same way. Sony has the hardware capabilities (after all the xioami uses Sony sensors too!) but the software isn't there yet.

@SebastianDylag I'm a Xperia 1 V owner, and I'm very satisfied with how fotos looks, particularly when I use a manual mode, and when I shoot in primary sensor. I agree that automatic mode is somehow hit or miss, but mostly it's OK. The other two sensors are too small, and I realy think that Sony should do much, much better.

You're trying to hard not to shit on the Sony. Don't feel bad for hurting Sony fanboys feelings, we already know it, the Xperia falls flat across the board, even manual mode and RAW sucks compared to Xiaomi. Also you we know that Sony isn't flagship tier. Having all lenses be as inconsistent as they are, lack of dynamic range, oversharpening, weird compression, artificial processing even in RAW's etc. are all lower mid range issues that the Sony suffers from. I get it, you try to appease both sides, but cmon, it's clear as day, the xiaomi is simply another tier. Wait for the 15 Ultra next spring...and Vivo X200 Ultra, too..... 14 Ultra does look odd with some light sources, watch light bulbs from Chandelier ceiling light samples...its some weird glow. Into the End, a phone is a phone, is a phone! I take pictures since 4 decades, a phone nowadays does have at best a main Sensor with Type 1" style Sensor, means 13.2x8.8mm format, guys! That's 2011 Nikon CX size Sensor format, with usually pixel binning, and 50 MP...go figure. It can't compete with real gear, real FF lenses, and a 36x24mm Sensor setup from real gear, in terms of bokeh, DoF, DR & basicially everything else. Shooting experience from a phone is never the same, than with real cameras, for sure. And no viewfinder, haptics, etc...fake AI stuff, algorithms, way too much...its good for what it is - but phones are never real photography for my taste, for snapshots fine.

@@danishblunt9698 it depend, there is Mirrorless like Nikon series Z, Fujifilm and some Canon that add a hardware process after the image get in shot "especially for the JPG version" RAW ofc will be RAW FILE but some RAW have some degrading process especially in Nikon Z7 for example, the Z8 is better but isnt even comparable to Sony Mirrorless ARW quality, there is an old A7S2 with 12mpx that took pictures better as 50mpx Nikon can do. Same as smartphone, AI and software denoiser is really a shit, but as i said before, Consumers love this shit especially consumer dont realize how their images will be degraded after an upload on social network. meanwhile Sony Xperia pictures will always look "perfect no denoise, no adding artifacts, not fake hdr" Sony algorythm works really perfectly thanks to BIONZ process
