That circular "drifting" from the GPS you referred to is known as "toilet bowling". It is caused by the compass being out of calibration so the GPS and compass "fight" each other. I've always felt that starting your compass calibration with the drone facing North works best, so I carry a compass in my drone bag. -- The proper way to calibrate a cell phone's compass has always been to start with it facing North. Which is something most people have never done, but if you want a compass app to be accurate you have to calibrate the compass. 4 or 5 years ago drone instructions said the same thing, start facing North, but for some reason they don't tell you that anymore, then can't figure why the drone toilet bowls. --- I've always wondered if drones toilet bowl the opposite direction in Australia than in the U.S., and have asked several Aussies. I guess they think I'm kidding and none have ever answered me. But, logically, I think it does.

Hey guys! I love the channel! I have a spark and love it! I also do a lot of flitetest planes, and while watching I saw they said you were one of their favorite channels. I have been watching you guys for several years though. They said you went to Flitefest a couple years ago, and I was wondering if you will be at Flitetefest east this summer. My two cents on the chirping: The "chirping" looks to be the prop motors revving up and down rapidly. This of course causes high current draw, bad stability, and short battery life. You'll also notice the motors being abnormally hot. In full-scale industrial AC motor controls, this would generally be a far slower hunting up and down than seen here, simply because the equipment is much bigger. But it could reflect either on a misconfigured speed controller or bad PID parameters in the process controller. Scaling everything down to drone size, the spirit of the problem is pretty much the same - either the ESCs are misconfigured, the PIDs in the drone are too aggressive and registering an oscillation, or they used bad gyro chips that gave the PID bad data. Race drone enthusiasts have noted that some low cost flight controllers can have cheap gyroscopes, which cause jittering and other unpleasantness in flight. Having overly aggressive PIDs have also been known in some cases to literally burn up motors and ESCs due to these rapid speed corrections and resultant high current draw.... However you cut it, not cool, Xiaomi. -- Ninja edit: Forgot to note, I'm happy to see you guys with one of these! I've been considering one since I saw other RC KZbinrs with them, and wanted your honest takes on the unit. The reviews that're out there are relatively old, and don't reflect the latest firmware patches.

I appreciate your honesty. You tell it like it is. I had bought the fimi excited to get a gimbled drone for a modest fee. I have to say I'm not happy with it. I have purchased the uruav hv charger and with moderate flying I get 11 or 12 min, 15 if I let it run out. Also the camera started tilting from side to side one day. I contacted Xiaomi and they were coming out with an update to fix it. It seemed to but it has returned after the latest update. They say just do a gimble calibration and restart it but it still did it. It doesn't do it every time but but from time to time. You get what you pay for. I should have just saved more n bought something else. I agree they should have put a better charger with it and get closer to advertised run time. If all that wasn't the issue it flies great and doesn't do to bad of video recording. I hope the X8 does better.

I have really been looking forward to seeing this drone. If this does what Xiaomi says it will do we finally have a quality drone to challenge DJI that doesn't cost at least a 1000.00; That would be amazing. I have yet to see a Xiaomi product that actually does half of what it's supposed to do. Here's hoping you can finally say they are in the game with this drone. This is why you are successful - you tell the TRUTH. What a novel idea when reviewing a product. If manufacturers wish consumer's to purchase their product they should seek honest evaluations. Just remember, when you tell your story and you tell the truth your story is always the same. It can be trusted, believed, and not biased for economic or personal gain.

4:11 That "chirping" was so obnoxious, I would hesitate to fly with people around. I don't want to attract attention and/or annoy people. Because video quality is most important for me I still have my doubts. The video quality from the little DJI Spark is great 1080p. Hope your flying video will give me some answers about the video quality the X8 can produce. Because of the dolly zoom and camera quality at this moment I prefer the Parrot Anafi, but it is more expensive. Hope to see your video very soon! Thanks in advance for making it.

Got mine yesterday after they canceled it twice LOL, took it out for a test flight and it performed perfectly. It's not super loud, pretty fast even in GPS mode, camera works great. Only thing that is sketchy is the gimble cover.

My FIMI A3 is very stable and deadly quiet. The sticker in the bottom says “2018.12”, what’s the date in yours? Indeed flight time is generously overrated in the spec sheet. I’ve been charging it as LiHV without problems, battery doesn’t even get warm

The Fimi A3 charging problem is a fault from the company SIMPLY because they packaged the wrong charger. I have no idea why they did something so foolish. The battery that comes with with the A3 IS an HV 3s and is safe to charge to the values suggested. Had they made that clearer fewer people would have complained _Quite a few HV batteries are now used on quads including the 1s ones on the Visuo Battleshark which you both liked and had no problem charging to the higher than normal voltage_ :) The X8 does not have the same problem with the batteries :)

Strange how the included charger doesn't charge the battery fully, guessing it's some of capacity issue as they have that charger used for smaller ones & it simply doesn't charge it up entirely like my old hubsan h107l usb charger does (it relies on the battery cutoff circuit built into the battery rather then having something smart in the charger itself so it actually cuts out too early on every battery you charge with it regardless of capacity out of the three ive tried here at least.) The h107p usb charger with the same battery i get more oomph out of the battery & i've been charging it with that since last winter in 2018. battery does get a bit hot in my h107p but it's due too the size of the cell itself not being that big & it ofc being old, 320 mah thats at least 4 years old vs the standard battery being 520 mah so ofc the higher capacity one will push out more amperage then the 320 mah one. But it does well in my tomy gx buggy I've modified as i mostly cruise around with it in the basement & do some silly stuff indoors in my apartment with it which keeps the battery lasting for ages still.

Make sure all the tiny screws that hold the individual props on are all there. Another channel had one missing and they didn’t notice before flying. It fell out of the sky.

Is there a service center in the US? I am thinking about picking one up but don't want to get screwed should I need to have it repaired. My Yeneec just fell out of the sky last summer but it was covered under warranty.
