I have a question I still haven't seen a comment or answer to. The p30 and s20 ultra has periscope 4/5 x zoom, while the Mi 10 pro also has a 5x zoom (10x hybrid), but without using periscope. And the pictures looks just as good. Why bother with the periscope zoom lens when you can achive the same without the periscope lens? The Mi 10 pro even looks better in its 5x zoom. What are really the advantages if there is any to using a periscope zoom over the mi 10 pro zoom lens?

Before continuing - let me underline that I haven't tried the periscope lenses myself, so I can speak of the Mi 10 Pro device only. It simply offers a lens with narrower field of view. Similar to DSLRs - if your primary camera is 35mm equivalent, the 2x zoom is 70mm, and the 5x zoom is 175mm (these are random numbers I've just picked for the example). Therefore - there is no degradation - simply because the zoom buttons switch to a different camera. That's how you preserve the quality. Feels like you have a DSLR with replaceable prime lenses, with the difference that everything is really small. I can't say which technology is better - guess the Mi 10 Pro is simpler, therefore - more reliable. But that's - again - based on my current point of view.

It's available with miui, I have it on my xiaomi phone and it's fine.

In the past months Xiaomi have switched to Google Dialer for their Global versions, which has NO recorder. Because of that I've switched to Xiaomi.EU - and it is based on the CHinese ROM (which is pretty much the same as the global, with the bloatware removed). And there is an embedded recorder in the dialer.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro is a great phone! Thank you Micheal for a trustful review! But is it a proper device to switch my Xiaomi Mi 6 on it. Mi 6 is not ideal but it suits me well enough. You are asking a dedicated Oneplus fan 🙂 I probably have been sort of masking that in time, but Oneplus devices have a very special place in my heart. The Mi 10 Pro is awesome. Thing is that while shooting the video - the expected price was lower. Now we know - the Pro costs 1K EUR and that's quite a lot of money. I still like a lot the Oneplus 7 - and got it for only 400 EUR last year. You just need to find something you like and you will know it ;) The S10 is awesome and not too big (cause jumping from Mi6 to the Pro will be quite a serious one in terms of size). Many people praise the Mi Note 10 Pro - at a better price than the Mi 10. One thing to note - all international phones by XIaomi now come with the Google Dialer preloaded - instead of the MIUI dialer. No Call recording... But if you like MIUI devices - and if the pro is too expensive (and it is) - the note 10 Pro is a good choice.

Jan, I also have never thpught I'd use Xiaomi phone, but ... the way they've gone - is long. From "synnyshit"-manufactured cameras in Redmi note 3 to the awesome sensors and features in Mi 9 and 10. I really hope that the whole virus craziness won't impact development of these devices, because the last months have been really interesting; As for the prices - they are not official yet, because the phone goes "global" in a week from now. But it won't be much higher than that. Unfortunately I expect them to raise it due to the shortage of multiple components...

The 6Pro uses a Snapdragon 600-series which is known for being a little warmer than others. Never managed to make the Mi 10 Pro that warm even when gaming.

The camera is way better; As for the rest - depends. Coming from the Oneplus 7 there are two things I miss a lit: 1. the alert slider 2. the ability to unlock with bluetooth devices (the MIUI is locked to Xiaomi devices only)

Sounds good 👍. However, the back of the phone is ugly and the phone looks kinda of big overall. Personally I like how compact the Samsung Galaxy S20/S20+ series is. Even the Xperia 1 Mark II is pretty slim. Is the Xiaomi MI 10 Po a heavy phone? I am interested in knowing whether Xiaomi will provide timely Android monthly Security Updates and OS Upgrades. Also, I would be interested in knowing how many years Xiaomi will provide Android OS upgrades. To date only the Pixel and possibly Sony(I think) offers 3 years of Android OS Upgrades. Which is lame considering Apple offers up to 5 years of iOS OS upgrades.

The Galaxy series have always been really nicely ergonomic - true that. And yeah - the Mi 10 Pro is heavier than most phones (I don't like that, but with such a large battery - kind of expected). As for updates - yes - I expect the updates will be on time and will let you know in 6 months. As for years - some pretty old generations are still supported, and there are plenty of custom roms for most. But no way to beat that 5-year support that Apple provides 🙃
