If this is your first android phone, I'd recommend sticking with a global android phone (so the honor magic v2 or maybe the upcoming oneplus open) for a full google/android experience out of the box. You'll have more than enough to get used to without having to fiddle around. You might not even get it right and just think android sucks.

Will be interesting to see a direct comparison with the Magic V2. I just cannot decide which one to get. V2 has the advantage of a global rom, Fold 3 seems to have the upper hand when it comes to the hardware specs (except for some missing 5G bands).

I like my phone cameras so this might be the one. I have a Chinese Huawei Mate 20 pro that it's battery finally last less than a day so needs replacing. The fold 3 could be the one. I had an international warranty on the mate 20, which was from Wonda, do xiaomi offer similar warranty? Any IP rating for dust & water ingress? I didn't see it mentioned on the launch event.

The mate 20 pro supported Google services fully with all banking apps etc, no sideloading. It was one of the last Huaweis to support it before blacklisting...

Just today, I tried to buy online from one Chinese website,don't remember the name, they said google play store can be downloaded but it is not possible to have android auto on the xioami since it is Chinese rom, so for me I will go with Magic V2 once available globally in September

No. There are several bands used internationally that aren't used in china that won't be there. This is part of the reason to pay extra for global versions of phones.

So Xiaomi might release a global version of the OS that can be installed later on by the buyer or is it a community-made ROM? Is it difficult to do?
