Is there any phone already equipped with a sd636? Although the cores are probably a bit more efficient the clockspeed is lower compared to the 625 so I dont think there will be a big speed advantage. Some speed increase may be in the GPU department I guess.
@krollpeter6 жыл бұрын
You may be right, 636 might be a bit more efficient but probably not leaps faster. Last 2 years almost every Xiaomi device was an excellent value for the money and had something special to it. Good speed for the price, super long battery time, a great screen, or some high end feature for a medium price, etc.. Now, this one here is not a cheat but there is nothing but "The Average".

which 1 is better redmi 5 plus or mi a1
@tommyboy710006 жыл бұрын
It's actually quite typical from Xiaomi - releasing loads of phones with little or no difference to predecessors (Meizu like to do that even better). But again, the 32 or even 64gb variants are priced pretty attractively so it kinda fits in the catalog somewhere. As of now i think Note 4 is still a superb value, so is Mi Note 3 and A1/5x. Everything else is just to create chaos and illusion of heavy presence. Huawei imho has the best strategy atm. Clear aim and target group for each phone and throwing loads of money on celebrities (even local ones) to promote what they know is a good product. Xiaomi needs to slow down and release far less devices with distinct diversification.
@BrendanxP6 жыл бұрын
Tomaz Stozer Huawei needs to focus on their quality and customer support first instead of trying so hard to sell biggest possible number of devices. Xiaomi should wake up to forgetting USB C in this plus model and taking somewhat the easy way on some other minor details.
@choohojin35826 жыл бұрын
Don't think it is replacing the Note 5. It is just some Mi forum admin spectulating it . Not official from xiaomi. There is also the Redmi note 5A which was released . So redmi note 5 is not dead yet..
@Techtablets6 жыл бұрын
I hope note. If it does come, maybe with a SD636, dual loudspeakers and a unibody build all for a really good price.

Choo Ho Jin hopefully that's true, would really good if xiaomi got over with their obsession on 625 chip.

Note 4X is on a sale now so getting Note 4X might be a better idea right now, but R5+ isn't that bad. Lack of USB Type C is bit annoying. I charge all my devices with the same Quick Charger that has Type C and now I will have to use one more cable for the R5+.. bottom bezel could be a tiny bit smaller too. But it's nice to see that Xiaomi is using 18:9 in cheaper phones. Hopefully they will make a 200-250 USD Redmi Note 5 that will have USB Type C and maybe bit smaller bezel and bigger battery like Mi Max 2. Then I will sell R5+ and get Redmi Note 5 instead 😃. It's nice that Your review is honest. We need that critique to make Xiaomi improve their products/firmware.

There we go, Xiaomi producing same phones all over again. I have Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x. A lot of bugs. Proximity sensor, gps etc. The thing you were mentioning with keyboard, it's not a problem with Skype, it's Miui's problem with Gboard. If it wasn't for the Miui, phone would perform much faster and better. 4X is my second Xiaomi phone and next one, I will be in for a brand change. Cheers. :)

darpinian1 Mi Note 3 is perfect except for the lack of a 18:9 bezelless screen.
@darpinian16 жыл бұрын
I prefer the gestures and hardware buttons over the on screen buttons. The front facing finger print scanner is worth it. I'm not entirely sold n the 18:9 feel at this point. It is nice and does give a good aesthetic but I do prefer a one handed approach to using a phone.
@flipp0816 жыл бұрын
Agree on the hardware buttons. I will soon get my Redmi 5 Plus från Goldway. This will be the first 18:9 for me. If the 5.99 18:9 screen dosent feel any better than a standard 5.5" phone I will sell it and buy a Mi Note 3.
@darpinian16 жыл бұрын
Taller but slimmer does have its perks when it comes to reaching across the screen with one hand. But not when it comes to reaching top to bottom. I have big hands but I find that I'm constantly re-adjusting my grip with 18:9 where as its not a problem with 16:9. This is especially noticeable when it comes to phones like the Mate 10 which has a bottom mounted finger print scanner. It forces you to hold it low in the hand which makes it feel top heavy, constantly tipping back. I prefer smaller phones though so I guess it comes down to what you like. i enjoy the regular Pixel 2 over the Pixel 2 XL.
@flipp0816 жыл бұрын
I like bigger phones. I currently own a Mi 5s but I liked Mi 5s Plus more. Sold 5s Plus and bought 5s only for the superior camera but I miss the big screen and great battery life of 5s Plus. I hope that Redmi 5 Plus will feels as good as 5s Plus but im not sure if 18:9 will be my cup of tea.

I'M GENUINELY not a fan of the mobile industry changing all screens to the new 18 by 9 screen aspect ratio. This affects videos and photos viewed on the devices, as well as capturing material on those devices whilst inadvertently creating new video/still resolutions. 16 by 9 is the standard and manufacturers are just ignoring this to create "new" features to sell more phones. I think my S7 edge unlocked with Nova Launcher is lb for lb the best device and is going to be lasting me another 3 years easily. Big fan of this review, nice and honest and seemingly a little ease off the gas from the success of the Note 4 and it's variants. Thumbs up.
@attomicchicken6 жыл бұрын
Ryan im ok with it and actually would prefer a thinner bezel to screen ratio. Do you have the same hang ups with watching 4:3 content?
@shifty2776 жыл бұрын
I meant 18:9. I don't watch any 4:3 content at all.
@attomicchicken6 жыл бұрын
Ryan yes but there was a period of time when consumers moved to 16:9 and video was still at 4:3 I'm asking if the black pillar bars bother you Or would you rather the manufacturers didn't push a standard (which is widely adopted thesedays) and rather watch it at the original square format?
@shifty2776 жыл бұрын
With relation to video on phones none of the video I watch has any black bars with the 16:9 ratio. So no it doesn't bother me.
@attomicchicken6 жыл бұрын
Ryan very insular. So then what is the problem of the new aspect ratio if it currently doesn't affect you in any way? Is it that you feel you would not be able to find a device at the 16:9 format in the future or perhaps that the medium wouldn't adapt to 18:9 in a timely manner?
@8078006 жыл бұрын
Regarding the wifi, i think it's simply because it doesn't support wireless AC, unlike the Mi Max 2. And also quite surprising the Display is worse than Note 4X, but that make sense if this isn't Note 4X replacement. Which mean we would probably see Redmi Note 5 with wireless AC and Snapdragon 636 and similar or better screen than Note 4X ( at least, i hope so).

Too late, I bought this instead of the Redmi note 4x and the Mi 5x 😂. But at least it's cheaper here in China (got it for less than 200 bucks). So far I have no complaints. Good build quality, decent camera (but I don't care about the camera anyway), the screen's pretty nice, excellent battery life, performance are better than what I expected from a mid-range device (to think that it can run MIUI 9 that smoothly that's quite impressive 😂). The loudspeakers are meh but at least there's the headphone jack.

Rafal Borowski I know man, it's English speaking thred that's why I'm using English. I'm on xda 7.1.2 dotOS system coz it's working well, KZbin background player, magisk, xposed modules. Good battery performance and its snapy. Best Rom so far.

Ah ok... I'm now on SlimRom, and while not bad it kinda has it's own quirks.... not changing it since it's like a week till I order a new phone an I don't want to mess up all the Auth apps etc. so... I'll live with that for a little more.... But as far as the Nore 4 is sexy (again I will see myself when my mother in law gets it) the 18:9 ratio seems sooooooo nice.... ech.... I will probably regret it but for now... 5 Plus it is...
