Got mine and had it for a few days. It's a great tablet! Screen is surpisingly sharp despite it's low spec, it is colourful too and gets surpisingly bright as well. Keeping it on 90hz screen refresh makes it feel blazingly fast. I use it for reading and although its heavy compared to a Kindle it is manageable, no heavier than a paperback novel really. Battery life has been great and the fact it has offline GPS (I got the 4G version) for using maps has been amazing, even something my iPad Mini 6th Gen LTE couldnt do 😅 The fact it was cheaper than buying a Kindle and could do so much more won me over! Honestly my only gripe is I wish it were lighter so i can comfortably use it single handed for longer periods like reading. Other than that, can't complain!

Why oh why wont the major Android manufacturers make a 8-9 inch tablet with a FHD+ resolution ? Why is this so hard ? Excluding the Lenovo Legion Y700 (recently made available in the UK but not globally) there's zero options for a small tablet running current Android software. It's frustrating when my 2015 Huawei Mediapad M2 8" has a crisp 1200 x 1920 283 ppi screen resolution & yet in 2024 there's no options besides niche chinese brand names which i refuse to waste money on.

I hate that no company has the ball to make a decent smaller tablet. I mean why cant they just put the latest chipset in this or a similar sized one. The s24 is literally a 6 inch phone but has the sdgen3. They could've just put an sdgen+1 here and raise the price accordingly

Xiaomi at this point is just moving their outdated hardware into a new chassis and slapping a fresh coat software because they know there's people like you that still pay for this slop. Such a shame, i was following up on the rumors of xiaomi releasing a small tablet months ago, I was hoping they'd at least be slightly better than a9 base model to give pressure to other manufacturers not to neglect the small tablet market. Only good option now is lenovo y700 but i dont know if thats available in physical store, wouldve been nice for something in between tab a9 and y700 in terms of specs though

I buy y700 2023 from store online,feels great on hand,everything is smooth.I have Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 but its become too heavy in hand compared to Y700,its a bit heavy for its size but manageable..Wish there is high spec android tab with current iPad mini size though. I like the IPad Mini design ,but I like the Y700 spec,cant have both for now

I have a tab a9 go for redmi pad se 8.7 because its 128 tab a9 only 64, and helio g99 is not that good in games g85 is more goods in games. But for wattpad, manga size, display and watching movies go for tab a9, redmi pad se 8.7 display is good,battery, wattpad and manga is good in this tablet. Just the software for redmi pad se 8.7 is not that good samsung software is a win. Sorry for my english but i did my best hahaha.

The tablets screen resolution is good enough for me (at 8.7 inches max). I value battery life, two speakers, a SIM slot and audio jack plus extra features such as a compass and FM radio more than extra pixels. Just buy a more expensive tablet with a sharper sceeen if this model doesn't meet your needs.

You mention the screen could be brighter, but you never mentioned that in the A9 review. In the video when you compare the sound of the two the A9 looks dimmer as well, but of course I don't know the brightness setting. Which one is brighter? Specs wise the Redmi should be brighter, but I know manufacturers lie...

Thanks for your videos. Redmi Pad SE 8.7 4G model (with GPS) only available in some countries. I wouldn't buy the model without GPS. I still stick with the Samsung Tab A9 that has the GPS antenna incorporated in its models without 4G and also the Mediatek G99 processor is better than the G85 in performance.

Thank you for the review. You are one of the very few channels that review obscure tablet models such as this. Between this model and the Tab A9, I think I will go with Samsung. If I'm not mistaken, this SE 8.7 comes with eMMC 5.1 storage, compared to UFS 2.2 on the Tab A9. I've had quite enough of eMMC storage devices now. And I can get the A9 for a slightly lower price than the SE.
