The Mi Watch Lite was an unmitigated disaster. Its heart rate reading were completely unreliable. I believe the designer choose an underdamped time constant for the measuring system in order to mimic the transient response of a ecg type hrm. With the poor threshold detection for the heart rate, the net result was a fitness tracker that hunts wildly for the correct heart rate reading. The primary purpose of a fitness tracker is to help the user get fit. When the basic function of a reliable HRM is lost, all the other fancy features are worthless as well. The Xiaomi Wear Lite app is another disaster with time zones improperly accounted for. Hopefullyt, Xiaomi and its partners will be more responsible in future. Once bitten, forever shy!

Love the end of your post. And so true! Well - I think Xiaomi have used there a standard kind of HR monitor, so might have been a combination of factors leading to the issues that you had. It's hard to get really perfect results from watches, but if you are looking for better accuracy, I guess Garming may be somewhat more reliable.

@@TechMishka It is a compromise made by the designers. Photosensor type HRM will not match the transient response of the ECG HRM. My other band is the Huawei Band 2 Pro in which the designer chose to have the reading critically damped so it settles to a steady state reading in reasonable time instead of hunting widely like in the Mi Watch Lite. For my heart rate to reach 195 bpm on a slow jog for almost a minute and then plunging to a heart rate of 90 bpm is ridiculous. More so when I am over 60 years old. A heart rate of 195 would mean me writing this from a morgue. The type of sensor chosen by Xiaomi is unlikely to be different from other manufacturers. Their designer choose to fool the consumer instead of working to the capability of the hardware. Xiaomi can choose to update their firmware instead of continuing the charade.

Swipe your finger from the bottom (or wait until your jacket does it), and the screen does many different things. I bought Amazfit GTS 2E, in which workouts can be locked, and then unlocked only after long-pressing of the side button. I am very happy.

I am using this band and my main complaint with this is that it doesn't do all day continuous SPO2 monitoring like many others bands. And the Mi Fitness app on iPhone can only write to Apple's Fitness app, but not read from it. Which means that if I am walking with my iPhone but not wearing the band, my steps won't be accounted for. This is not a problem with Huawei Health app which intelligently combines fitness data from phone and band. Also, the fitness app on my iPhone is acting weird after I started using this band. It says that I completed my move goal even if I haven't!

Sounds like it is not a great match to iPhones... As for SpO2 tracking - most trackers need the hand to be in a still condition for 30+ seconds to get an accurate measurement.

I didn't even know this one was coming until I saw your headline on it, and was also sort of stunned, as you seemed to be, to note that it seems to be nearly a exact copy of the Honor and Huawei Bands 6. When I chose between THOSE two, about a year or more ago, I decided to go with Honor, as I knew Huawei was notorious for screwing Americans (possibly all of North America) out of access to the watchface store on their watches and associated phone apps. I never could hack my way around that limitation. That has never been a problem on the Mi Bands, and while I realize the Redmi Smart Band Pro is not quite a Xiaomi product, I'm hoping to have many watchface choices on the Redmi Smart Band Pro. I ordered it from China about a month ago, and hope to see it later this week. I've mostly liked the Honor Band 6, but the watchface issue, in addition to the fact the watch LITERALLY SHUTS DOWN with too much direct sunlight, I'll gladly put it in the drawer if the RSBP works out as I hope it does. I am carefully watching the Mi Band 7, which is now available for pre-order, and the specs have been revealed but, even though it has crept up a bit in size, resolution, and battery capacity, I still prefer the form factor of the RSBP. Fingers crossed!

It uses the accelerometer and gyro sensors. If you start an activity and your smartphone is around, the tracker can use the smartphone's GPS signal in order to collect more accurate data.

Yeah! Both are quite similar indeed. The Honor Band 6 seems to have better display and I think - nicer scrolling performance. In terms of health tracking, probably I'll give the edge to Honor Band 6 as well. The apps for both are good, however Huawei Health has limitations on iOS devices.
