Sadly, no. The CH Version of the MiBand 8 only works if you set your location to China. No Firmware Update has been released afaik.

From what I've gathered the distance for swimming is not very accurate as it has no gps (unless assisted by your phone) The pro version has gps but that's pretty much the extent of what I know about it

That's a clever way to use the bands, because as a clip on the shoe it can register the activities without risking some damages in few sports and also for confort.

Excellent. Just buy legeal ones. Strait for Xiaomi. You have blue and orange rubber ones, yellow and green lether ones, and then the metal ones that don't look right to me.

It's true. I've always had my smart watch while I was overweight, not that i'm ~25kg down, I never wear it and I still hit the gym few times a week.
