I bought one this week, tuned it up and put 1000 watts in to it no problems! Made lots of contacts on 40,20 and 10, it’s going in to my motor home for a awesome POTA setup! (It is easy to assemble and disassemble) thanks guys

Out of the box with an internal tuner it would work well on all the bands. We were trying to get the best tune we could.

You need to start by adjusting the lower section for 10m. Then move on to the next section for 15m. Continue to the next section for 20m. Finally, adjust the whip for 40m.

Nice job on the antenna and video. It's too bad it took so long to tinker with but it's good to know that it's workable across the 4 bands.

I have not bult\tunned this antenna. But I have worked on a Hustler 5BTV. It looks very similar. I would look at the DX engineering manual in setting up that antenna. It may give you some more understanding of the process. You need to tune each band from 10m down.

I have this antenna and I can completely understand your frustration, the thing is a Bohemia. That being said, mine is now vertical, it’s a PITA to tune 40m phone part of the band.

Just got mine. It looks to me like at every yellow sticker is also a small sharpie mark. I'm going to put it together with every piece on this mark and then shorten the top, because i have a feeling thats the way. Science.

the first and second sections don't fit well at all. the now included mounting rings and u bolts like you show don't fit any standard mast pipe.

I think you need to push each section in as far as they can go, that is, push them home and then only adjust the whip to bring the antenna into the advertised specs!!!

We attempted this and it wasn't enough. Sections 1/2 should have been adjusted first with the top sections all the way down, then fine tune each band.

I'm confused, what does the matching unit consist of? Is this an EFHW or some magic multiband 1/4 wave with elevated radials?

It’s a ground plane 1/4 wave trapped vertical. It’s top loaded as well for 40m to keep the height down. I didn’t open up the matching unit. You can see that over on this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/laGpYYGVgr5mf80 about the 5:40 mark.

Its a 3/8 wave vertical similar to cushcraft r6000. The matching unit is a 4to 1 balun with a choke to stop rf on coax braid. Thanks for the video l made one for 20,15 and 10 using an old r6000 and a 10 and 15m combined trap. Measurements 11ft 4inches to trap and 4ft 9 inch extension for 20 m, SWR under 1.5 for all bands. 73s Rob G4WGR

It seems too involved. Too many things to have to tune with wrenches etc... just get a buddy stick instead etc... can do it by hand in seconds.

But a Buddystick isn’t meant to be permanent. This is, I’ve learned a lot about this antenna since filming and it’s a great antenna for permanent install.
