The most terrifying thing for the Doctor to have to admit at this point is that it is "fortunate" that only 2 people died, and only because they directly engaged the Toymaker. He could've easily killed everyone in that room, whimsically. The Doctor is probably counting his blessings that the death toll was as low as it was, especially given how helpless he is to help them. With "normal" villains who follow the rules of the universe, he can try to save people, reverse whatever harm has been done to them. But the Toymaker follows a completely different set of rules from the rest of the universe, so undoing his actions might be beyond the Doctor's ability.

Honestly, he's even more horrific if you try to make sense of it. He's literally a universal force that ignores any rules of reality. You have NO way to stop him besides winning his games. This is a villain you cannot negotiate with other than forcing them to play a game and win, or lose with horrifying consequences.

Despite what 14 demanded as his prize, that The Toymaker is banished from reality for eternity, I think RTD was very knowing in having Kate instruct them to bury the box in salt. She doesn’t know it but 14 invoking the salt superstition at the edge of reality is what gave him the power to come through in the first place. They’ve left a little crack in the window for NPH, or someone else, to return to the role later.

Oh it is, if you can warp reality on a level that allows you to pull Loonytoons esque BS, it means that *either* your universe's laws of physics are just that flexible and chaotic.... or you've overome the bounds *of* your world's phsysics... people often try to make a character that can destroy a universe seem powerful, but the thing is to destroy a universe energy alone isn't enough. You need to overcome that universe's physics and break them entirely in a way that causes the universe itself to completely unravel in it's entirety. Which is why a being that warp reality of a universe that is bound by stronger laws and thus more orderly, will *always* be stronger than a simple cartoon character who's universe never really had any rules to begin with. So destroying it was never gonna be that hard.... And the toymaker is able to break the rules of phsysics on a whim, but has such control over it as an entity that he doesn't also destroy the universe in the process. That makes him infinitely more terrifying than just some loonytoons character...
@vylbird8014
@vylbird8014 7 ай бұрын
As the embodiment of a cosmic force, the Toymaker is powerful beyond anything else - but he is also constrained by that nature. Everything is a game to him, everything has to be a game to him, because that's fundamental to him and how he interacts with the universe. For the same reason, all game rules are binding upon him. He can't cheat, and he can't go back on an agreement over the stakes of a game. He may interpret the rules flexibly at times, but he can't break them. It's not just some honor code - it's what defines him. The Toymaker cannot violate the rules of a game because he the game.

Okay, this scene and the rest of the Toymaker has made me believe that if there's any actor worthy of being a Joker in a future Batman movie, it's got to be Neil Patrick Harris! (Yes, I am aware he played the Music Meister in Batman: Brave and the Bold and he was FANTASTIC in that!)

Honestly after watching this scene I think Neil Patrick Harris would an amazing choice to play Mr Myxzpltk (Superman villain) who is a reality warping imp from the 5th Dimension and loves to toy with Superman. Honestly everything Neil executed in this scene as the Toymaker embodies the charisma and twisted humour of Mr Myxzpltk, I can totally see.

This is why the main villain should have a song and dance number. Shows that the rules don't apply to them. Also a funny way to break the 4th wall.

The vocal Ahhhhhhhhh dragging on longer and than saying Cya hold tight was a nice mix touch. The song does the ahhhhhh long but normal length and than it says Hi Cya hold tight! It's a number 1 hit and a very fun song. I particularly love it around 1.5% slower when I tried that very small edit several years ago. I think if the original was put at that it would have stayed at number 1 even longer and would have been over 3 minutes long. The mixer for them made it the tiniest bit faster than I would have done it if I had put it out. Only less than 2% slower so it nails the concentration even better because when they scream Spice up your life I think people older listening back than didn't grasp it as great as kids and young adults. It was a very different very unique track for 1997. It goes great with Ace of Base it's a beautiful life. Their track speed wise is what I mean.. it is the exact speed I like. I'm a huge SPICE Girls fan and love it no matter what. This song and it's music video literally changed my life as a kid! ❤️

The level of chaos in these two minutes alone........ Couldn't have asked for better!! The look on the Doctor's face when he heard the music was a perfect mix of oh not this again and thank the heavens of Gallifrey its not Rasputin...... Our fandom must look so freaking weird to people who have zero frame of reference..... and LASTLY could Kate have hit that wall ANY HARDER?!?!

One of my favorite scenes from David Tennant's years as the 10th Doctor was when the Master ordered a genocide on the earth set to the Scissor Sisters. This scene has topped that. Neil Patrick Harris is a terrifying joy to watch.

So we had the master do Boney Ms's Rasputin, then the Toymaker did Spice Up Your Life. For the next doctor who supervillain dance video, I recommend Moto Moto's Chunky.

I’d say so! Maybe have an overlord of the Abzorbaloffs as the main villain (the Abzorbaloffs, I believe, being an alien race during Christopher Eccleston or David Tennant’s era as the Doctor).
