People here forget that while it is possible to fix a car like this, it may not be as safe as one that has not been wrecked. This is one thing people sort of neglect to consider. Once those beams and supports get bent like that, you can bend them back, but they are weakened structurally. If they have an actual frame, that's different, but a unibody construction may not be as safe, even though it may be "fixed" to within specs (but usually that's just measurements like is this part the same dimension as a new one? It does not always take into account its ability to withstand another impact).
@xinxianshi Жыл бұрын
You bring up a very important point about safety when repairing a vehicle that has sustained significant damage. Unibody construction, as you mentioned, can be particularly sensitive to structural damage. While it may be possible to restore a vehicle to its original specifications in terms of measurements, it doesn't always guarantee the same level of safety as an undamaged vehicle.
@10OZDuster11 ай бұрын
true but the owner of the car want it fixed for less than 2k the tech mentioned this job cost the customer only parts/labor $1500. gotta satisfy what the customer wants they don't care about "weak structure" ..its not their concern their concern is get the car back on the road for almost nothing and these guys are skillful and deliver all the time. western people are just angry as they don't have the same skillset as these people. all they do is bolt in new parts and declare car with minor damage as unrepairable.

@xinxianshi Жыл бұрын
It's truly impressive to witness such remarkable craftsmanship, isn't it? The dedication and skill that this master has demonstrated in restoring the car to such a high standard are certainly noteworthy. Different countries and regions often have varying approaches to vehicle repairs and restorations, influenced by factors like regulations, market demand, and cultural perspectives. In some places, vehicles might be considered beyond repair due to extensive damage, while in others, skilled artisans can work wonders to bring them back to life. The ability to salvage and restore vehicles not only showcases exceptional craftsmanship but also contributes to sustainability by extending the lifespan of vehicles that might otherwise have been scrapped. Appreciating the artistry and expertise of individuals who can achieve such levels of restoration is a testament to human ingenuity and dedication. Avons nous en France des carrossiers aussi qualifiés ? chapeau bas les artistes .
@xinxianshi Жыл бұрын

The damage was very extensive but not as serious as it looks at first glance. The geometry wasn't affected, nor were the frame rails or suspension. That said, it's a structural damage nevertheless so it will affect the car's value unfortunately even tough it's well repaitred. The only thing that surprised me is the fact that you use plug weldinsted of a pinch welder! The pinch welder gives much better looking results and make less work and look factory! Great results as always and what an impressive team of workers. I love seeing excellent, professional and hard work and the result. Absolutely a 10/10 every time.👏👏✔✔👍👍

These technicians are very skiIled and repair this car according to the highest standards, but I always wonder if the repaired car will not be more prone to corrosion, due to the fact that weldspots are not getting the same protection as in factory.
@xinxianshi Жыл бұрын
You bring up a valid point. Skilled technicians like the ones shown in the video perform repairs to a high standard, but it's true that repaired areas might not receive the same level of corrosion protection as factory-made components. Factory production processes often include advanced rust prevention methods, such as precise coating applications and controlled environments, which can be challenging to replicate in a repair setting. However, experienced professionals will use methods and coatings designed to mitigate the risk of corrosion in repaired areas. Regular maintenance and rust prevention efforts by car owners also play a crucial role in extending the lifespan of a repaired vehicle and preventing corrosion issues.

I'd be more concerned about safety. How well would it with stand another collision like that in the same area? This is partially why some insurance companies will just junk cars. Partially for cost reasons but also for safety. One of my friends who is an insurance agent told me that in some cases, even if they can fix a car financially, it may not be done (and may be totalled) for safety reasons... as in the car may not be able to be fixed to a point where it could be deemed safe enough to withstand another accident. It may look OK on the surface, but structurally it may be compromised. Once some of the parts of the body are bent, they lose their original strength, even if they are filled and bent back).

This car would have been written off in North America and for good reason.
@xinxianshi Жыл бұрын
You're right, in North America and many other regions, cars with extensive damage like the one shown in the video are often declared as "total losses" by insurance companies. This means that the cost of repairing the vehicle exceeds its market value, making it more cost-effective to replace the car rather than attempting extensive repairs. However, in some other parts of the world, especially where labor costs are lower, and access to replacement parts is more affordable, it can be economically viable to repair heavily damaged vehicles. The decision to repair or write off a car depends on various factors, including local regulations, the extent of the damage, and the cost of repairs relative to the car's value.

Surprised the vehicles wasn't just scraped and used for parts, in most developed countries this would be an instant write-off as repair bills would quickly total the car not to mention the compromise on structural integrity, how would this repair hold up in a crash? I guess labor is very cheap in China.
@xinxianshi5 ай бұрын
You guessed it right. Such work will only be done when labor is very cheap. Safety is also an important reason. As people's economic conditions improve, they will pay more attention to safety. However, in some backward countries, people will put safety after economic benefits.

Where do they buy the donor car pieces?
@xinxianshi11 ай бұрын
The acquisition of donor car pieces for repairs can vary based on the repair shop, the availability of parts, and the preferences of the technicians. Here are a few common sources for obtaining donor car pieces: 1. **Salvage Yards:** Many repair shops source used or salvaged parts from auto salvage yards. These yards often have a variety of vehicles from which parts can be harvested. 2. **Auto Recycling Centers:** Some repair shops work with auto recycling centers that specialize in dismantling vehicles and selling reusable parts. 3. **Online Platforms:** With the rise of online marketplaces, technicians can also find donor car pieces through websites specializing in used auto parts. 4. **Specialized Suppliers:** Certain suppliers specialize in providing recycled or refurbished auto parts. These suppliers may have an inventory of parts that meet specific quality standards. 5. **Donor Cars:** In some cases, repair shops might purchase entire donor cars to extract the needed parts. This can be cost-effective when multiple parts are required. It's essential for repair shops to ensure that the donor parts they acquire are in good condition and meet safety and quality standards. The specific practices can vary, so if you have concerns or questions about a particular repair process, it's advisable to inquire with the repair shop directly.

Should have had a new body shell, too much damage to frame and into bulkhead. can you imagine seeing your car that badly smashed up being taken off to the garage then a few weeks later you get the same repaired car back, I would be gutted.
@xinxianshi Жыл бұрын
I understand your concern about the extent of the damage and the decision to repair rather than replace the body shell. The decision to repair or replace major components like the body shell depends on various factors, including the availability of parts, cost considerations, and the expertise of the repair professionals. In some cases, extensive repairs can be performed to restore the structural integrity of the vehicle. However, I also understand that different people might have different preferences when it comes to repairing or replacing severely damaged vehicles.
