bit late to the party but still, valve insolation is tested better using kerosene and not water, kerosene penetrates small gaps better than water, and thus makes a better indicator of your sealing situation. Also very good camera work for such a small channel, keep it up!

Attempting this at the moment myself but falling at the first hurdle, having trouble with the gears.Basically I have both the shift drum and the transmission in yet I can't select all gears and when it doesn't click into place the front sprocket just turns as though it's in neutral. Any tips on installing the shift drum, shift fork and gears, I should add all forks are in correct and the dogs are seated in the shift drum groves correctly. Great video btw

I got a bike cheap cos the bearing had collapsed in the gear train...needed the engine splitting...so normally not worth a garage working on it Dismantled everything so far

Hope you get it to run perfectly without needing to open it again! Any big modifications planned or just rebuilding? (Example podfilters aren't recommended on XJ bikes)
@obs3013 жыл бұрын
I will try pod filters yea. I guess im mostly building it to look good at this point. Seeing as i dont have a license to drive it anyway XD.

@@obs301 agree looks sooo much better than that big fat stock airbox. If you can get it to work fine I might change it on my XJ too. You shouldn't cheap out on them though, I've seen some run at least kinda decent with K&N pods.
@JimmyBackbeat3 жыл бұрын
@@doctorthee pods looks great but the K&N's are pretty pricey. They are roughly 300-400€ where I live, which is about the same as I bought my entire XJ600 for.

I have some cheap Chinese pods running on my XJ6 and they've served me fine for 3 years 🤷♀️ Had to change the main needle to 105 and that's it
@obs3013 жыл бұрын
@poolkrooni the ones I have are cheap, so it will be trial and error.

Perfect as usual, thanks for sharing! You use a speacial primer in engine before painting? and the paint what kind it´s?, thanks.
@obs3013 жыл бұрын
I used a primer ment for aluminium and engine paint. But its a local brand, anything ment for aluminium and heat should be fine i would think.

Hey Daniel, I'm also rebuilding a FJ/XJ600 to a caferacer and i need your help. Do you know where the two cables from the engine earth go to? I know one goes to the battery but there should be another (smaller) cable that I don't remember where it goes. Pretty stupid that i didn't wrote this down it but i hope u can answer my question. Like your video's and keep up the good work :)

Am I the only one that find it weird that the pistons went into the cylinders without compressing the rings? To me that sounds like stuck rings.
