Looks really good mate just a couple of points you might want to consider. 1/ where you have sanded of the rocker cover fins if you clear coat those surfaces to prevent oxidization. 2/ in that recess under Yamaha on the engine cover you could fit a badge with your logo on it.

Hey man! I will be making something for the blank gaps ;) I will keep an eye on the top and if it starts to corrode i will clear coat them. It will take time masking everything up 😅

Everyone seems to go for the wrinkled black for the look, but it also has the benefit of doubling the surface area so is great for heat dissipation.

Lot of progress this time, good stuff lad. Couple tips, Don't use a Philips screwdriver in a pozidrive screw, you'll round it out. You've polished any remaining coating off those rocker cover bolts so they'll rust real swift. Maybe look into having them replated. If you have to hammer the starter in, you've possibly pinched the O ring.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but a couple things. * I hope the throttle shaft seals were replaced with new ones on each carb. * Those 8 valve cover "donuts" have to be replaced or the new gasket WILL leak because it's not being pushed down enough. * You should check the valve clearances as well. Most of these bikes never had them checked after being bought new and will be way tight. Looks absolutely awesome though! I'd love to re finish my 750 Seca engine. I will clean it as best i can this spring, but I just don't have the room to do a frame off.

im doing the same bike i found the r1 forks and was too anxious i was just going to install and ride but after seeing your frame and engine after the work and powder coat yes this frame needs that. i wish i had that seca tank but am thinking i like the royal enfield and will use the stock maxim seat, uncover it, reform my foam and recover utilizing the original seat in a cafe racer style. thanks for the inspirsation jish your bikes are awesome. i will also be attempting to swap the 650 cams with the xj700-non-x cams so fingers crossed i have the cams and valve shims and buckets for those cams.

So it's a reseal, not a rebuild, re-ring, rebuild or overhaul. That would mean that it has oil leaks the allow oil to escape the engine and transmission, but when tested there isn't a huge loss of compression. This is the rarest engine work that an engine could actually be needed and nothing else is wrong with the engine. As an Auto Parts Countermen and engine builder for well over 20 years, I can tell you I've sold a lot of reseal kits but those engines smoked badly and they were nothing you would want on your ride!

Hi, great job :-) I ride a XJ600 from 1986. It seems that both motorbikes (XJ650 and XJ600) have a similar engine. Since my XJ600 has a chain as a transmission, do you think it would be possible to thansfer the drive shaft from the XJ650 to my XJ600? Thank you.

Really enjoyed that, I'd rather wait for a video of that quality, production and content are both outstanding. Brilliant results on the engine and carbs with the vapour blasting and the crinkle coat. Just one wee thing, have you thought about getting the nuts and bolts re-plated as opposed to leaving them raw after cleaning on the wire wheel? It's usually cheap to get a bucket of fixings done and I'd have thougt there'd be plenty of places to do it in the Midlands.
@jishh
@jishh 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul! I did think about it and I still may do that. the bolts I put back on the engine area all brand new stainless steel apart from the head nuts and rocker cover ones. im planning on replacing most of the hardware for the rest of the bike for new stuff as most of it was corroded
