IIRC, Capture radiance doesn't work like you said. It doesn't appear when you are going to lose the 50/50 it happens when you already lose 2/3 50/50 in a row. If you lose 3 50/50 the next 5* is guaranteed CR, does not matter if you lose or win because it will always be CR.
