The best motors these came out with was the 200ci Super Pursuit motor. (before the 223 and 250). Had a 2 speed auto mainly. And mine went hard and smooth. Loved it! Coolest looking car ever!!! When I got mine I had layback seats put in it, and my sweet Mary (soon to be wife) really appreciated that!

I wish 6 cylinders got the same amount of love in the states as they do in the land down under.

The XM coupe had the classic looks right from the start. The 221 was a torquey motor before the 250 2V came out. Knew a guy who fitted 6 Mikuni carbs, was hell to tune but sounded awesome when the thing ran right. 🤘😋

love the twin exhaust on these log engines, this car is PERFECT! i don't think i'd be changing anything either. i saw an XL falcon a while back with XY i think drum brakes all round and still kept 13" wheels (widened) with standard hub caps (the XP ute had 5 stud in 13s) he said it stopped great also due to being a light car. i'm a gemini owner also, and think you probably should have split this episode in 2 parts maybe, or title it with the gemini segment included. but great video and great car feature again.

That thing is killer. And how good is the 221 with the triples. Love it. Don't go v8 Laurie, everyone has one of those. Keep it different

Love the XM/XP Falcons owned both, always desired the 2 door coupe but were hard to get even 40 years ago in Aussie, but bought a XM sedan for AU$70.0 with a clapped out 144 in the late seventies, couple of years later replaced motor and gearbox with a XA 200 cu inch and gearbox kept the rest stock for a while , was the ultimate sleeper, but ended up upgrading brakes and wheels and tyres to suit. Was going to upgrade diff as they only lasted six months to a 9" inch but to expensive, standarddiff was $20.00 at the wreckers back in the day.

Mate I " Ryan" picked up one of these in 2002 for $1500 and it was registered with a 302 Windsor. I painted vermillion fire and sold it for $6000 shell only. "Was so happy at the Time" Now One of my biggest "car i sold regrets" Thanks for watching Pete and Ryan

Love the triple set up but the 3sp and the drums are going on my (V8) 64 Mercury Comet - those make the car less enjoyable but then I'm in Austria (think NZ - lots of mountain roads and twisty bits)...

Why is the shift as it is. Should be towards you and up for reverse, towards you and down into 1st, (so spring loaded into the 1st - rev shift) then away and up for 2nd and away and down into top. Why the change?? Bloody nice car though!!

Drop kick the 221 and the fucked head. Replace with a 200 ci with 250 2v head. (sounds like the wrath of god) Use a B/W T5 5 speed. comes as floor or column change. five stud disc brakes all round (because we can, joys of being in Australia .If it fits datsun 1200 rims it's fucked.) Fix all the fuck ups under the bonnet and repaint. Would be a nice car. I'd still put a rack and four link in it. "Did you miss the point? He is trying to keep it period correct." Lol Which period the 40s or 50s. That head would have to go. It's shit . It doesn't work correctly with a single carburetor adding two more just makes the problem worse . I'd love to own this car.
