Man, I love this storyline. It turns Vile from a random side villain, who hates X for no reason, into a complex and interesting character. Sure, most of what he does is unnecessarily violent and extremely destructive, but he does basically self direct himself. He chose a path without knowing what he would do at the end, not because it was the best path, but because it was what he wanted. It’s almost completely human in its passion and imperfection. In the end, he went more maverick than most mavericks do. He rebelled against both X and Sigma’s train of thought, and in the end, realized the value of his own existence. What you mentioned seems to be why they gave Vile his own mode as opposed to Zero, and I gotta say it paid off. The execution could be better, but turning a one-note henchman character into his own beast rules in its own right.

This is very well said. It is interesting that the story of Maverick Hunter X takes a different tone from Mega Man X with its story, focusing more on showing the humanity of not only X, but Vile as well. Humanity is capable of great feats of heroism and compassion, but also selfishness and evil. X and Vile were shown to be two sides of the same coin with only Sigma realizing the potential of both.

I would agree with all of this if it weren't for the faceted that I appreciate the amazing menace that was Vile in og MegaMan X, the way he was introduced was without words really needed (though it left no background to the character, less you assume he was the leader of the ship.) Adding to make the suspenseful moment of the first encounter. Then you fight'em and he beats X like a pinyata. The dialog adds to Viles character as a intimidating, ruthless villain. And in the last encounter you walk into a death trap, as vile was waiting for, a forced battle to free zero and destroy vile with new powers... You lose and zero sacrifices himself to give you I fighting chance, and X breaks free from the shock net with only will power alone. Og Vile is amazing... TL:DR: Bro is not even a side villian, did worse things than SIGMA who we only see once and nearly kills protagonist twice, zero dying the second time.

I knew they had moved the hearts, sub tanks and armor pieces around in this remake but, I had completely forgotten that they reworked Sigma's fortress layout as well. I kind of wish they had also included this in the MegaMan X Legacy Collection. They put the animated movie they made as a bonus for this game into the collection. They could have also put the game with it.

Wish we got Maverick Hunter X2. Imagine all the possible updates, character developments, fixing of stories, improved stages, remixed OSTs, etc... I could already see Crystal Snail's stage in 2.5D and seeing his zombie form in X-Hunter Stage 1 since he is like the joke character of the 8 like how Launch Octopus is in this one to contrast their personalities to their "shell" forms in the castle stages.

Even though I don't like the general look of MHX, I have to admit that the Mavericks look much cooler and more angular. I would give out my favorite examples of this, but ALL of them look better. Something that I think is fine being left out of the game, but REALLY wish it were put in would be a unique Vile intro stage where you commandeer the Death Rogumer and ride it to Central Highway and fight X in a ride armor.
