Right clicking loadstone with a compass will turn the compass into a "loadstone compass" which will then point at the loadstone. It can also be used in the nether which is very nice.

Instead of naturally always pointing due north, if you interact with a Lodestone while holding a Compass, it will transform into a Lodestone Compass, which will always point towards the location of that Lodestone block
