i was actually very intrigued by Gia’s answer regarding to the question of whether or not they related to their character and what they took away/learned about playing their roles. as someone whose in the process of learning my own sexuality, i was very touched by the role of yuri bc i felt a lot of similarities with that character. i truly think gia did an amazing job of portraying her. bc of this, i became curious if gia herself related to yuri and hearing that she felt that she was very different from yuri was interesting. gia’s portrayal of yuri felt so real, and i think it’s special that she said although she originally saw yuri as a different person, she eventually was able to connect with yuri through their want to be/show their true selves to the ppl they love. whether or not gia is queer or not, the way she was able to connect with yuri is so relatable (at least for me) and took yuri’s character to a more emotional level bc we all just want to be loved for who we truly are. there is so much growing and pain involved in wholeheartedly becoming ourselves and wanting to be accepted by others, esp our loved ones. out of the entire show, i think the role of yuri was my favorite, and probably Q close after.

i think it’s because while they were both born in seoul and grew up in hong kong, he studied performing arts in england and she studied acting in LA. not sure why their surnames are different though!
