How to Make Marriage First

Pray for my marriage I am going through this situation and my husband doesn’t understand that our marriage is a priority.

I had 2 children when I married my husband . My first marriage was abusive in every sense of the word . My first husband told me that me putting the children ahead of him was our biggest problem. I knew that his private addiction in self pleasuring, his neglect of the children , his abuse ....were factors as well but I heard him . My second marriage, and it is current, I did not ever put my children before my husband. They are grown and have families of their own . I was unable to get pregnant with him so I prayed for a few years and we adopted my cousins daughter, when she was two . Our life ,before her , my husband worked and worked overtime every other day and the other days , he would go to the gym . When we got our daughter, he stopped going to the gym ( I begged for years for him to stop ) and said he stopped because he did not have any time with our daughter. These 14 years ,since we got her , she has been his number one priority. Long story short but since Dec ,she has been living with her godparents. When he is off on a weekend, he will go get her and take her shopping. I am so hurt and devastated because I have never been a top priority. If I were not saved , I would have divorced him long ago . He admitted to me Sun night that our daughter is way way way above me ,his wife . I don't know what to do with that .

After my last stroke, I had to learn how to seek God first all over again. I waisted so much time scrambling to beg for help from people who obviously never cared and showed it through there actions(or lack of actions) It made me wake up to Truth, especially in the integrity and character of others. I realized I was way to dependant on others and needed to change. God allowed the situation to show me who was honestly there for me and that I needed to change focus to God.

My wife has heard all of this and doesn’t care. Our marriage counselor says she and her daddy have an enmeshed relationship with narcissistic tendencies and they are the married couple.

I would like to hear more about your wife's relationship with her father. I have a mother with narcissistic tendencies, and she demands my husbands attention all the time everyday. He says he's doing it for me but I feel left out all the time.

Preachers always communicate to their wives the church is more important than them. The church is a group of people trying to receive everything they believe God has for them. While preachers neglect what God has give them trying to preach about what God is gone do

After 27 years of marriage I'm still being disrespected by my husband's family. They have alienated our 3 children for 27 years and don't understand why they as adults now want nothing to do with my husband's family. My mother in law had the audacity to gift my husband a head stone, burial plot and casket for Christmas. She didn't speak to me about it beforehand. I was furious with her, and my husband for not speaking up to her about how very wrong of her it was to do such a thing. His family has this sick emotional incest going on that I cannot wrap my head around. My husband allows his family to disrespect our marriage and it's not okay with me. There is no bond, no intamacy, no trust anymore. He gives the best of himself to his mother and older brother. His loyalty is to them not me or our family. He would leave me for his mother and brother. His mother is a minister so she should know better. My husband runs to his mother telling her all of our business. Does the same with his brother as well. I have asked him so many times to stop talking about our marriage with them. He said they have every right to be included in every aspect of our lives. He even talks to them about our sex life! He will spend what little time he has at home talking to his mother and brother on the phone for hours. He has 2 weeks away from home with 3 days at home so no he should not be in communication with them during his time off. I've just had enough of all their selfish disrespectful behavior that I told him it's me or his family but not both. He thinks I'm terrible for doing that. I've waited entirely too long for him to cut those apron strings. I'm at the end of my rope. He's clearly not putting our marriage first. I feel like I'm married to him, his mother and his brother. He thinks I'm a horrible person for telling him it's me or them. Their behaviors have brought us to this yet I'm the bad guy. They join together to lie to me and deceive me so yeah they're destroying my marriage. Entirely too much gaslighting and narcissism in his family. I can't depend on my husband to do right by me when it comes to any outside forces.

This is exactly what’s happened in my marriage plus infidelity. I didn’t have any Hope aside from the Lords specific word to me. I guarded the word, but also set a strong boundary. We separated a year w/divorce lawyers & court dates set & I cried out to God I wanted my marriage. He gave husband a dream. The Lords been restoring it last 4 months. But not without us both putting in work. I wanted God to do it all since I tried so long all the other years. But he showed me I needed to sew seeds this year too or nothing would grow. I pray for your heart to be guarded, boundaries safely around you to heal. Dismay for the behavior to be given to God almighty. May he shower you with strength & prosperity for your Godly marriage promise. Jesus name Amen.

For me as a African American marriage for me is not easy because I am labeled as no good lazy will not man up to my responsibilities. I am not that but the label and the stereotype is there. In the black community I get shamed both ways from black men don't be simp if you marry you are weak...and black women would not touch me because I am not a thug. Either on that aspect I face a up hill battle. I want to marry I look at my non black friends and are successful at love me I feel embarrassed at times I just want to 😢. Make me sad at 50.

But you have to do what's is according to the most high, your work efforts should stand out for them selves as not being lazy. It shouldn't matter what others think. For some woman they want that bad boy image but they will never be happy with that type of man. If she does not follow God and his commandment then she is not equally yoked with you.

Godly Wife exactly. They want that bad Boy image because the bad Boy seems to be bold, decisive and brimming over with testosterone, even though they're using those resources for evil. If you know anything about Black women, we're strong and we need a man who can hold is own to be able to submit to. It is not easy, but always remember that your reward should come from God! So whatever you do, never look to people...we are all sinners and not perfect....and according to WHO is how you are supposed to be..what the world tells us to be, who are all searching to fit in.... You are perfectly and unique created by God, He knew you in your Mothers whom. My advise is pray for the right woman and pray that God can help you to be the right husband and father one day

Sounds about right (not wanting to be in your shoes). Just remember-and this is HARD at first-that is the job of the Holy Spirit to convict people. Your job is to pray, learn how to live according to the sciptures, and let your example (that only comes after the Holy Spirit is acting in you) be a model. Good luck!!

Who said that? No one lives sin free. We are humans in a fallen world. We should strive to not sin, but we will fall short-we are not Jesus. Sin and evil are 2 different things. Evil is not something every human has to deal with in their own mind every day. Again, Jesus is the only one that claim being free from evil and sin. Any human making that claim is a liar.
