I took mine first time to Bethany beach. I loved it in the wet sand. Standard beach program and really stable. If it was a target it let me know. Quarters a dime and penny. I even came across a hot wheel spill. 6 hot wheels out of one spot. The Nickel took several scoops as the waves kept filling the hole. I was whooped. Anyhow I'm loving this so far. Good luck and happy hunting.

Great video. I found a thin aluminum ring like that the first day at the beach with my XP Deus 2. I got a video coming up tonight where I find one of those carbide ring. It was a heavy ring. Have fun on what I called and am still calling the learning curve. Thanks for sharing. 😀

Awesome! It won't take you long to get around the curve. The D2 is very simple to operate on the beach. Salt Sensitivity, Sensitivity are your 2 biggest factors. If you don't have a trashy beach knock down your reactivity to 0 and you will a lot more depth. But out the box you get amazing depth. Good luck hope you find the GOLD!

Liked your video and finds! 👍 Will you be using "diving" on wet and dry sand also? Or just under water?
@MentalMetal2 жыл бұрын
From my experience last week, I would use Diving when underwater but in the shallow surf I was using Beach P, Beach Sensitive, or Beach just fine. I found P to be the deepest but to answer your question you can using Diving on wet and dry sand too.

What I found is deep not as sensitive on small gold The Beach mode run 24 kg like the Excalibur so hits chains well If you lower salt sen to7 and regular sen to 92 or so it will be quite once coil is underwater and much better for smaller gold I never use deep anymore If waves are washing over coil it’s a little unstable but very manageable It’s all what your after a machine to quite in my opinion is a machine not set correctly for max performance

Good advice Ron, I'll have to give it a try next time I'm on the beach. Thanks for the recommendation.

Thank you Mental Metal. Just curious, would the Vanquish 540 picked up those targets? I'm debating whether to buy a Deus 2 or Legend, both water proof, but the more I watch the 540 videos the more I like it especially since it's just a $400 detector.
@MentalMetal2 жыл бұрын
Depth wise it would be pushing it. I dug some very deep targets with D2 that the others would struggle with but I would say (if I had to guess) maybe 80% of what I dug the 540 would find. However, the 540 doesn't have all the adjustments for recovery speed, iron volume, bottlecap rejection etc. so you might be digging more of the unwanted stuff. Its something to consider. I was digging almost everything to learn what the machine was telling me and most of the time I knew when I had a bottle cap. The D2 was very good at giving me an iron tone together with the high tone. The 540 uses the same technology (Multi-IQ) that the Equinox uses so it is good for the beach. If you want some more flexibility then save up for Nox 600 or 800 but I would even give the Legend a look. It is very good as well.

@@MentalMetal I want my next detector to last 20 years as my Sovereign has, so I have been watching a lot of KZbin videos. I love the D2, but it is very complicated, even Superfreak said that he does not recommend it for the casual hunter like me, so I'm leaning towards the Legend. Have you tested the latest update? I want to get a detector this week and be ready for Labor Day weekend. The beaches in South Florida are going to be loaded with goodies :)

I have nothing against SF but if you are just using the Deus II for the beach, its actually easier to setup than the Legend. Every machine has a learning curve. I have a playlist with all the basic things you need to know to reduce the curve of the D2. But if money is the obstacle then go with the Legend. As far as the Legend goes. I have the latest software update for it (1.09) and only because of that update will it work fine on the beach. But even with the update I had to mess with it to get it quiet. They have buried additional menu items in the existing menu so unless you are using it everyday those secondary menu items such as the iron filter and stability settings and all the other items they crammed into it have made it more difficult to use in my opinion. Its great that they are listening to their customers but the simplicity of it is gone. For the money its a great machine but they aren't trying to do anything new they are just adding all the features all the brands have. Again my opinion. Would I buy one? After the 1.09 update? yes. Prior no.

Hi mate, I noticed you were wearing socks with your crocks. Are they anything in particular or just sports socks? I find if I just wear crocks the sand rubs my feet raw.
@MentalMetal2 жыл бұрын
I don't wear anything special, socks help but it just creates pockets where sand collects under the arch of your feet but the rubbing is less severe. If I did this a lot I would look at something like these amzn.to/3K9w1S2 and I might get them anyway for the rivers and lakes.

So from my experience with the d2 on the beach if the signal cracks at all or if the numbers are super variable it is guaranteed to be iron and most likely a bottle top.
@MentalMetal2 жыл бұрын
I would agree 80% of the time. Some of the junk jewelry will start to rust and you'll get the iron cracks in some of that too. Especially earrings. Happened to me a couple times last week. If I heard the iron but saw the number jump up from 40 on up. I would dig it. You can usually hear the bottle caps with rejection set at 2 but I went up to 3 but I know I was probably masking other targets. Its a fine line but if you aren't digging a lot of caps then I lower the filtering as much as possible and dig most of the targets anyway. Hilton Head is not very trashy so I could get away with digging everything. Other places not so much.

What I can't do videos on other machines? So I you mean to tell me I have to have loyalty to one brand? So let me get this straight you liked my Equinox videos until you figured out I was doing videos on other detectors? News flash Todd, this channel has been around over 7 years and in those 7 years, I've covered the Garrett AT Pro, APEX, ACE, Whites TDI, Simplex, Vanquish, Deus 1 and II, CTX 3030, Legend, GPX, Excalibur II, AT Max, and yes the Equinox just to name few (I'm sure I left out some let alone the different gear I've covered as well). I guess my 2 years of doing Equinox videos and a playlist dedicated to helping folks learn the NOX doesn't matter. Let alone my website articles about the Nox.. Sorry to disappoint. If there was a topic about the NOX that I could cover that hasn't been covered a million times already, I'd like to hear it but then again, you aren't watching... :-)
