I found one of those Swastikas years ago and they were common in the UK apparently before WW2. My father said they were indeed good luck symbols. The Swastika took on a whole negative meaning after the Nazis took it as their emblem. Also the Nazi salute was a hail as in ‘hailing’ a taxi.

Oof! For a second there I thought, Simon had found a small ancient vase! That would have been epic!! What's with all the knobs recently?! 😅 Just before you showed Simon's door knob find, I was about to comment, that your marble-sized "thing" with a hole going only half way through, could possibly also be the knob of a small drawer or something. Maybe? Or, like you said, indeed a hat pin. I guess, I'm just seeing door and drawer knobs everywhere now...🤔 As a German, I always get the creeps, when someone finds a swastika. 😱I wish, your find looked older, because I know that way before the damn nazis, the Norse people also used this symbol (in a much more positive way), and it is or was also popular in India and Hinduism. However, this doesn't look exactly Viking or Indian, and if it did, that would probably be a very unusual find on Scottish fields. You're probably right in that it could be from prisoner of war field workers. Although, would they have been allowed to keep their nazi jewelry, if this was a pendant? Naaaah, I hope next time you rather find some nice gold or hammered coins again instead! Fingers crossed! 🤞
@ceej10011 ай бұрын
Since the writing on it is not in the German Language, perhaps that means its provenance is not Nazi?

My grand mother had a Navajo rug while working as a Nurse in a TB san at ft Defiance on NM/Arizona border. It was covered in right and left swasticas. After WWll Navajo rug weavers stopped using swasticas. Their men were Code Talkers all over the world for the Marines. They had an easy life in the military compared to raising sheep in the desert

@eileencarroll641811 ай бұрын
Swastikas before WWII were common symbols of good luck. Independently used by native Americans, very early use by Scandinavians to represent the Hammer of Thor. Also bronze age sun cross. Also appears in iron age artifacts. Also used in Hindu and Buddhist traditions. This version probably made in US late 19th century or before WWII . Many US tokens sold as pendants or watch fobs as good luck charms.
@marionchase-kleeves831111 ай бұрын
Exactly. They outperformed regular marines due to the harsh environment in the desert. They didn't eat the sheep they cared for, they raised them for wool. Women own the sheep, young men were horsemen, hunters, and sheep herders in the desert in the 40s. Afterward many came to Albuquerque or nearby Pueblo land as well.

Merely because of the orientation of the swastika, I'd assume it's not Nazi, as well as the decoration inside of it, though I could be wrong! If there is history in that area of POW, it could be from wartime. Unfortunately Google was quite limited with the results, and I fear I'm now on a list for searching too much...! Great video as always John, I thought the big chimney looking things were Panzerfaust warheads at a first glance, but maybe just agricultural.

I heard 25:05 that many of the european monarchs, including Ireland and England, have monarchies dating back to the Jewish diaspora. The rampant lion is a symbol of the king David, Lion of the tribe of Judah, and Irelands harp is the harp of King David. Never researched it but a good story. In the middle of New Mexico there is a place on the Las Lunas pueblo Indian land (ask Simon what a pueblo is) called the Mt. Of Mystery. At the foot of the mt. is a VW size rock with a dressed surface with the 19 commandments written in Paleo Hebrew. One artifact on top of the Mountain worship cènter is attributed to an astronomical event from 123 BC.

Before the use of the swastika in Germany (turned pointing up), it was a symbol used in Hindu and Buddhism. Depending on the swastika facing right or left gave different meaning "Sun" or "Night" and also was a symbol of Good Luck. What you found has a hole in it at the top, and shows the right facing swastika, meaning Surya (SUN).....very likely was a pendant.

I think the item with swastika type symbol is a religious charm or pendant because of the way symbol is oriented. The German swastika is turned 45 degrees, where as a bent cross religious symbol is oriented with the flat side down. There appears to be hole in the item which would be the top orienting the symbol as a bent cross.
