Learn Automation Online

Күн бұрын

One of the most anticipated topics on Learn Automation Online is writing Xpath. There is no wonder why this is the most expected topic. Because XPath play a major role in test automation projects and they are very crucial in the interview as well. This has two parts and this is the part TWO of the XPath tutorials.
What will we learn in this video?
1.Locating a parent element
2.Locating a child element
3.Locating ancestors of a known element
4.Locating the following elements
5.Locating preceding element
6.Locating the following sibling
7.Locating preceding sibling

HI I am pretty much clear the dynamic Xpath. The way you explained is excellent,especially as a beginner like me it will help to catch up easily. And also I like to know how to write a static/relative Xpath.. when i was try to write a static xpath i encounter problems in predicates.Is it necessary to learn HTML for understating static Xpath?Thanks in advance
@LearnAutomationOnline
@LearnAutomationOnline 5 жыл бұрын
No need to master html for understanding xpath. I'm not sure about your understanding on the predicate portion of xpath. Predicate is actually the portion embedded inside the square brackets. No matter which type of xpath it is.

@LearnAutomationOnline

Actually there is no difference between child and siblings. A Child node may have siblings. That is if a parent tag contains, one or more Same level child nodes, then they are siblings.

@LearnAutomationOnline
@LearnAutomationOnline 3 жыл бұрын
When u inspect and get the xpath it may break at times. But when u write it using functions, it's more robust. Second, interview point of view, we can't expect the interviewer to be satisfied with our answer saying, I can copy from browser itself. The moment you start writing xpath, you will be able to handle even complex elements without any trouble

Bro....Xpath and Css selector which one best and why?
@LearnAutomationOnline
@LearnAutomationOnline 4 жыл бұрын
You can't compare like that. Which is most suitable and which will work perfectly for that element is the key player in selecting the locators. When it comes to performance css works better that xpath. Internet explorer browsers will have problem with xpaths.

Hi sir.. I have one doubt.. Actually previous xpath video, you have taught about known attributes and contains those things..But this video u have taught abt parent child relationship..Which case we have to use this parent child xpath..bcoz mostly previous videos is enough to ryt xpath in all cases na..then why we have to use this parent child xapth..It's really confusing me... Pls clarify my doubt..
@LearnAutomationOnline
@LearnAutomationOnline 2 жыл бұрын
Some times, if there are no static attributes for an element, you can use these relationships. Also interviews la you can expect lot of questions from relationships
@lakshmipriya69
@lakshmipriya69 2 жыл бұрын
@@LearnAutomationOnline ya sir.. Bt if there are dynamic attributes means, we can use contains , starts with na.. For example id=agni223 means we use contains for this dynamic attributes..I think this will satisfy all the requirement.. There is no use of parent child relationship.. Which place I have to use 1st 7 xpath type which place I have to use this parent child relationship this only confusing me sir... Exactly wat is my doubt means if there is no attributes or attributes is there but everything is dynamic means we have to use xpath.. Lykwise I have doubt in which scenario exactly we need to use parent child relationship...

Hi sir could u pls clear my doubt?
@LearnAutomationOnline
@LearnAutomationOnline 2 жыл бұрын
What if none of the atributes are static for an element and in thay case, you may have to rely on other element to find. There are multiple ways you can deal with, I have covered those. For actual work, as u said, attributes and contains will be sufficient in most of the cases. Most of the cases not all the cases.
