Ironically, stooging around is one of the best ways to keep in touch with how your glider is handling and can pinpoint anything that may be going out of whack.

Totally true. If you are not comfortable with your glider at any speed, attitude or altitude, you have not become one with the aircraft. Tuning your airframe and radio set up so you can fly without thinking is the ultimate goal. This is what I teach in my Tuning and Thermal Master Class video series.

I had a wiring issue with one flap servo right before I shot this flight, so I had to disarm the flap channels and tape the flaps shut. This really messed up my mixes and roll response, as you can see the plane yawing about. Still flyable but not as crisp as when the flaps are following the ailerons for roll.

Mode 2 and I'm a thumber. Motor is activated by going into my motor run flight mode first, then clicking the momentary switch with my left hand to start the motor. Most of the flight is in cruise mode, wing in section, trimmed to match the motor flight mode trim.
