Thanks for that, mate a small tip always disconnect your “out” fuel line (marked with pink arrow) when your priming the filter place rag under to catch fuel- this way no air in the system and starts first go. Cheers Ant

Once again another awesome informative video. Just as a side note if you change out to the 200 series filter casing to the 2020 model or later casing (easy as) you can run the new upgraded filter which has a better fines sub cartridge on the bottom to catch more nasties!

Here is the procedure used in the video. Readers can simply copy and paste from this comment. I put this and the Oil message below on paper and laminated it at a size that allowed me to slip it into the plastic sleeve on the driver's sunvisor. That way it's always handy. Toyota is very competitive with the price of the fuel filter but not so much with air and oil filters. I get mine from Filters Plus, 511 Abernethy Rd in Kewdale (WA). DYOR. FUEL FILTER WARNING LIGHT RESET: Step 1: Disconnect top wires/plug on filter housing. Step 2: Turn Ignition on. Step 3: Plug top wires/plug back in. Step 4: Turn ignition off. Step 5: Turn ignition back on and start engine.

This is by far the best step by step guide that disassembles only what is required. A small point, but relevant, is that the warning light reset may not involve a double tap on the push start. At least this is true for the GX version that has a key start and can't do this (what I own). I first saw a double tap mentioned on All4Advenutre's video and I think this has been spread across multiple youtube videos since then. From what I remember reset operations at least for the GX and 1VD-FTV engines is as follows: 1) With the Fuel Filter Warning Switch disconnected and the unit primed, turn on the vehicle (1x key turn or 1x push start) 2) Within 3-60 seconds connect the Fuel Filter Warning Switch 3) 3 seconds later warning message will clear from dash Can someone confirm this is also true for push button start 200s?
@XploringOz2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, appreciate the feedback! 👍 I'll look into the double-press point, not 100% sure myself now as I've always used this method. Cheers

Wow that is easy on a 200 series. On the Prado you change all the filter housing including the body that the water sensor attaches to. The filter on the Prado is also approx 2.5 x more expensive. Also, not sure about a 200 series but on the Prado there is another fuel filter between tanks. There is no monitoring or alarms on that one and it needs to be changed periodically.

Always helps to repeat the process of pressing the start button twice, let fuel pump self prime, then hand pump until firm, do this 3-4 times before starting the car. Starts first time.

Another message that may appear on that little screen is "Oil Maintenance Required". This is quite rare and actually is meaningless. It can occur even straight after an oil change. Here is the procedure to get rid of the message: OIL MAINTENANCE REQUIRED WARNING: Step 1: with engine idling, from the ODO button above the right side of your steering wheel, you scroll to Trip "A". Step 2: press and hold the ODO button to reset Trip A, keep holding and stop engine. Step 3: without letting go, turn on ignition to ACC position - but DO NOT start engine, ie, foot off the brake pedal. Then press the "Start" button two times - and the system will start the reset. You can now let go of ODO button. Step 4: it will go through reset and then say complete. Once it is complete, it will be OK to start the vehicle.

Just pump till it's rock hard. Never had anything but a normal start. To clear I just start with the sensors off. Start then click in. I also put some fuel on the seals. Second being the top of fuel filter. I don't let toyota do mine the apprentice must get the job and use star bit as the keep stripping them. Even replaced one with a standard used bolt 🤬

If people have difficulty using the L shaped Allen key, just take the removable handle from the Toyota screwdriver and slip that over the key. It gives a much better grip.

Hi Nath, Got a question for you re the Toyota diesel filter you show in the vid. Is it possible that was an old stock unit from your spare in the drawer? If I am not mistaken Toyota had recently updated the filter and looks a bit different. Can you just let us know when you buy a new filter from Toyota and also if the changed the part number Thanks mate… Cheers

Hmm, I'll look into this for you mate. I'll have to pop down to buy another unit, however I was under the impression it was the current model 🤔 Will let you know when I find out 👍

Hi Nath, just another thing to follow up while in Toyota parts store: Do you run the original Toyota air filter in the Toyota plastic box?. Is there now an upgrade version seal on new filter which are fixed on the filter, bit bigger size and cannot came off during installation of the filter into the housing? Thanks mate and happy weekend Best regards from garden home office with 38+ Cheers
@XploringOz2 жыл бұрын
@@holgermuller2987 I'll see what I can find out. In regards to the fuel filter, I think that the new part that you were talking about may be the specific part for the 'facelift' versions of the 200 series LC (2015+ models). Saying this, I have been told its not hard to swap these assemblies out with the newer unit into the pre '15 models. 👍
