Kind of a pepega take at the beginning. Crypto can be considered gambling because the value is purely speculative. Day trading or short term trading can also be considered gambling because the market can be volatile. But stock market in general isn't gambling because you are actually purchasing a piece of value in a company. If you buy stocks for your retirement and never sell, you are almost guaranteed to have more money saved up by the time you retire. Purchasing 100 dollars worth of the S&P 500 can almost literally guarantee you growth unless civilization collapses or something.

But trust funds/MTFs, index’s, and using diversification, while also studying the market, trends, and watching the federal reserve closely, can minimize your losses and get you gains over time. It’s not instant gains, like gambling, but it’s much more consistent in that you can get gains, and moderate ones at that. 401k and Roths are also kinds of investments too, yet they’re safe. Overall, stocks aren’t really gambling.
