That really makes me think, “what was the original story supposed to be?”. I’m seeing a lot of changes made by Naughty Dog which makes me think that much of the bad scenes weren’t part of the original vision for the game. @@hades8610 no actualy its not valid at all to hate him, especially the relationship between joel and ellie from the first game doesnt even match up at all with the last of us 2, and the story line between the 2 games dont line up its also very confusing, for many people who played the last of us 2 anways in the first game, joel and ellie were starting to make a bonding family relationship, and it shows that ellie only father she had was joel, and joel was looking after her, ellie was a whole lot different in the first game as well, she appreciated joel for saving her, even when joel saved her in the first game, she still appreciated and loved him' ellie was a whole lot different with her personality, in the first game she was acting like a daughter and looked up to joel as a good figure. and she took many lessons from him, she even said there is no one she has except joel in the first game, and joel before that didnt want to go, but then he changed his mind, ellie insisted joel to go with her on the journey to the firlies, and he did go with her, this shows she insisted joel to go with him isntead, and also insisting the family relationship, also there are many examples in the first game that show the huge daughter and father bonding relationship between ellie and joel, but i wont go too much in detail anways after all that family bonding between the two, and now in the last of us 2 after ellie founds out and she doesnt forgive joel???????? makes no sense? after ALLL that bonding relationship? then after she doesnt forgive him? thats the part were it doesnt make sense at all, the first game and the second game do not connect at all with the storyline, it is as if ellie is a whole new person in the last of us 2, in the second gam, she even started acting strangely and unforgiving whenever joel tried to help her or save her, [ but she never acted like that in the first game ] so for ellie to not forgive joel about saving her especially AFTER all that bonding relationship???? makes zero sense the more proper and normal response she should have given was, she should have appreciated joel for saving her and look up to him as a caring and loving father. that would have made alot more sense, since that would also connect more with the first game. especially the relationship anways i just wanna say that its wierd how after she founds out and doesnt forgive him???, does ellie not know that the REASON why joel saved her is because joel looks at ellie as his own daughter and the only daughter he will ever have!, this is his second chance to have a daughter and a happy life with someone he cares about. this is why the devs made the last of us 2 one of the shitiest storys ever, and doesnt even match up with the first game and also remember the fact that ellie and joel both had a daughter/father relationship bonding in the first game. thats why everyone got pissed when joel died in the second game, and honestly i dont blame the audience

probably the most unsatisfying ending I’ve seen in a game. Like, I don’t know what they were going for. The ending wasn’t even sad, it just felt uncompleted. Like I can settle with somethings like Joel’s death, the counteracting storylines, the fact that Abby lives, but the ending where Ellie loses basically everything and probably went out to find the Fireflies to go give her life is just so hallow. They really set up for a sequel to fans that have been loving the first game for 7 years for a story like this.

Isn’t the whole point of the game to reflect on Ellie’s experience and see things from a different perspective? It sounds innovative since in most games you are always the protagonist and are always fighting the ‘bad guys’. The first game felt exactly the same, you were a protagonist who had an inherently noble cause to protect an innocent soul. Only to find out that the ‘bad guys’ you murdered throughout the game have values and experiences that are no more important than yours. I feel like Part III is gonna be something having to do with the Rat King and the one mutated clicker that doesn't quite stay dead and escapes to the wild; itll go out and spread a more dangerous strain of infection that knocks the recovering humanity back into crisis, and the only two people who can stop it are Abby who has had personal experience fighting the Rat King it came out of, and Ellie who's immune, and the two of them begrudgingly putting a team together ultimately ends with Ellie making a cure to the virus. And yes. The writing will probably suck.

I played it and I honestly liked it. I know its a divisive game but honestly the effort and risks behind it is worth a try. Sure the story is not everyone's cup of tea and I won't share my opinion on it but some chapters are more fun than the others; I think Day 2 of each side is the best. He didn’t give her a choice in the matter. Remember, Ellie feels like shit being the only immune person amongst all of her loved ones who died, particularly the ones who got infected, like her late love interest, Riley. She has massive survivor’s guilt, and it’s all but implied that if she had that choice, she would die to save people instead of getting them killed. So, yeah, she does treat Joel like shit, because his selfishness robbed her of that choice. Just when she does start to let him back in, he dies.

They never gave her a choice either and were going to just cut her brain open on the spot for a tiny fraction of a chance they somehow produced a viable vaccine first try and magically were able to replicate it by some impossible odds. Something apparently none of the worlds top scientists were able to accomplish but these delusional do gooders think they can manage. That's what made the first games ending so good is because nobody really was the good guy and yet most players probably understood Joel's choice no matter how selfish. The second game ruins everything the first game did right, it portrays the characters everyone is genuinely interested in as THE bad guys and tells the entire story in a jumbled mess of flashbacks and characters that mean nothing. Sad cause this game could've been so good if done right, basically a good idea executed poorly.

I decided to watch a play through of this game again 2 years later, it connected a lot of the dots. With the amount of resources they had for this game, and how much they delivered in the graphics and emersion, it’s sad to know that they picked one of the worst ways to use it, that director really failed, all in all though, the game is alright except for and especially the ending.

The pacing was the fucked up part of the game. If Ellie could forgive the man that literally stole her destiny, her very reason for existing, she could forgive Abby. It's pretty cut and dry to be honest. A lame ending would have been if you killed Abby I'm the theatre. Dina and Ellie live happily ever after.

The ending is actually sad, she doesn’t revenge on Abby because she feels she’d lose herself amongst all the anger and control. Ellie loses pretty much everyone she’s ever cared about and I really hope Dina didn’t leave her for good, and hopefully just with other people for security.

I found it clunky how they had to show the Joel flashback at the end tho but I get the whole if she could forgive Joel she could forgive Abby thing. But too many people are like #joeldidnothingwrong even tho Ellie explicitly stated he stole her destiny but would like to forgive him. Marlene: "I lost most my of crew crossing the country.
